UCSF RADIATION ONCOLOGY UPDATE:
COMBINED THERAPIES, COMBINED
IMAGES, COMBINED VISION
Radiation therapy is more often than not
combined with other modalities when used
with curative intent. In addition, emerging
imaging modalities increasingly contribute to
the sophisticated processes involved in the
delivery of radiation therapy. Through a series of
clinical (CNS, Gyn, H&N, GU, Breast) and
technical presentations and panel discussion
sessions, the objectives of the Friday-Sunday
course are to provide an update on combined
approaches to cancer management. We will
discuss how to integrate new imaging modalities
and reinforce synergies among the team
members in radiation oncology.
NEW THIS YEAR
We will have a parallel session on Saturday
afternoon on practical issues with new imaging
technologies. The intent is to offer a one-day
registration on Saturday only for dosimetrists and
radiation therapy technologists. This one-day program
will include the morning general session, the
afternoon parallel session, and the annual Buschke
Lecture.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is intended for a national audience
of radiation oncologists and medical physicists
actively involved in the clinical activities or the
decision-making process of using radiation for
cancer treatment.
OBJECTIVES
The purpose of this course is to increase competence
and improve clinician practice in radiation oncology.
Upon completion of this course participants should be
able to improve expertise in the following areas:
• CNS: Hybrid surgery
• Prostate: Sentinel node scintigraphy and
radiopharmaceuticals
• Head and Neck: Advances in surgery and
nanoparticles
• GYN: Combined modalities
• Breast: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy and new
target definitions
Education to provide
continuing medical
education for physicians.
UCSF designates this live
activity for a maximum of
16.25 AMA PRA Category 1
Credit(s). Physician
should only claim credit
commensurate with the extent
of their participation in the
activity.
This CME activity meets the
requirements under California
Assembly Bill 1195, continuing
education and cultural and
linguistic competency.
Nurses:
For the purpose of
recertification, the American
Nurses Credentialing
Center accepts AMA PRA
Category 1 Credit(s) issued
by organizations accredited
by the ACCME.
Pharmacy:
The California Board of
Pharmacy accepts as
continuing professional
education those courses
that meet the standard of
relevance to pharmacy
practice and have been
approved for AMA PRA
Category 1 Credit.
Physicists
Application will be made to the
Commission on Accreditation
of Medical Physics Education
Programs, Inc. (CAMPEP) for
approval of the program in
order to provide medical
