Stems pendulous, pale yellow when dry, cylindric or<br />

sometimes thickened from base to upper part, usually 8–40 cm,<br />

2–5 mm in diam., with few to many nodes, internodes 1.5–2<br />

cm. Leaves narrowly oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 4–10 × 0.4–<br />

0.8(–1.4) cm, leathery, with tightly clasping sheaths at base,<br />

apex obtuse and unequally bilobed. Inflorescences often several,<br />

arising from old leafless stems, 2- or 3-flowered; peduncle<br />

green, 6–10 mm; rachis sometimes slightly upcurved, 1.5–2 cm,<br />

thin and weak, base with 3 or 4 short tubular sheaths; floral<br />

bracts ovate-lanceolate, small, 3–5 mm, dry membranous, apex<br />

acute. Pedicel and ovary pale pinkish red, 1.2–1.5 cm. Flowers<br />

spreading; sepals and petals pale pink, lip white, epichile pale<br />

pink, column white, anther cap purple. Dorsal sepal ovate-oblong,<br />

13–18 × 5–8(or more) mm, 7-veined, apex acute; lateral<br />

sepals slightly obliquely ovate-lanceolate, ca. as large as dorsal<br />

sepal, 7-veined, apex acuminate; mentum very short. Petals<br />

obovate-oblong, 12–15 × 4.5–7(or more) mm, 3-veined, apex<br />

acute; lip erect, ca. 1 cm, with epichile and hypochile; hypochile<br />

subglobose, inner surface densely barbellate, apex densely<br />

shortly fimbriate; epichile deltoid, relatively small, glabrous,<br />

apex acute. Column ca. 4 mm, lower part enlarged, foot ca. 2<br />

mm, column teeth deltoid, apex slightly obtuse; anther cap<br />

subspherical, densely finely papillate, front margin erose.<br />

Epiphytic on tree trunks in dense mountain forests, lithophytic<br />

on damp rocks in valleys; 600–1300 m. SW Anhui (Huo Shan), SW<br />

Stems pendulous, sometimes upper part ± curved, pale<br />

yellow when dry, cylindric, 50–100 cm, 2–5 mm in diam., unbranched,<br />

with many nodes, internodes 3–3.5 cm. Leaves oblong<br />

or narrowly elliptic, 7–10.5 × 1–3.5 cm, with clasping<br />

sheaths at base, apex acute. Inflorescences often several, arising<br />

from upper part of deciduous or leafy old stem; rachis ± porrect,<br />

1.5–4 cm, slender, sparsely 1–6-flowered; peduncle 5–10 mm,<br />

base with 3 or 4 membranous sheaths 2–3 mm; floral bracts<br />

ovate-lanceolate, 5–7 mm, membranous, acute. Pedicel and<br />

ovary ca. 1.5 cm. Flowers spreading; sepals and petals pale<br />

pink, lip white, callus green, column white, anther cap deep<br />

purple. Dorsal sepal oblong-lanceolate, 16–20 × ca. 7 mm, 5veined,<br />

apex acute; lateral sepals obliquely ovate-triangular, ca.<br />

as long as or slightly broader than dorsal sepal, 5-veined, apex<br />

acute; mentum jarlike, ca. 1 cm. Petals oblong, 14–18 × ca. 7<br />

mm, 5-veined, apex acute; lip concave, cymbiform, broadly<br />

ovate when spread, 15–17 mm, claw ca. 5 mm, adaxially<br />

densely white barbellate except for claw and both sides of disk,<br />

with a square callus near base, apex abruptly contracted, recurved-caudate.<br />

Column ca. 4 mm, lower part enlarged, apex<br />

with auriculate column teeth on both sides, front densely purple<br />

crinite, foot ca. 1 cm long and wide, bent forward, inner surface<br />

sometimes sparsely hairy; anther cap nearly subglobose,<br />

densely papillate-hairy, front margin irregularly dentate, apex<br />

slightly concave.<br />

Epiphytic on tree trunks in mountain forests; 700–1000 m. Guangdong,<br />

Guangxi, SW Guizhou, SE Hainan, NE Hunan (Taoyuan), SE<br />

Yunnan (Maguan) [Bhutan, NE India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam].<br />

conic, without a saccate cavity; lip apex 3-lobed, front margin with dense, long cottony hairs.<br />

About six species: Himalayas to Malesia; one species in China.<br />

longitudinal ridges. Leaves narrowly oblong-lanceolate, 4–7.5 ×<br />

0.4–1.5(or more) cm, leathery, base with clasping sheath, apex<br />

slightly obtuse and hooked on one side. Inflorescence apical on<br />

old leafless stem, 1–2.5 cm, 2- or 3-flowered; peduncle 10–15<br />

mm, ca. 1 mm in diam.; rachis thin and soft; basal sheaths 3 or<br />

4, broadly cupular; floral bracts oblong, 5–9 × 2.5–3(or more)<br />

mm, papery, obtuse. Pedicel and ovary 0.6–1.1 cm, slender.<br />
