It appearing that the Department of
Public Utilitie* ha* received numtroui com.
plaint* from the euttotncri of New Jersey
Natural Gu Company in the areas now being
served by natunU ga« which have bean
and are being investigated;
It further appearing that these centplaint*
concern i (1) the charges for natur.
•1 gas, (2) the method of billing, (3) the
method of measuring the service and measuring
device* used, (4) failure of custom.
«rs* appliance* to function properly after
conversion for the use of natural gaj;
It further appearing that in order for
the Board to become fully informed on the
natters, aforesaid, and in order to serve the
public interest, the Board should hold a
public hearing I
It is ORDERED that a public hearing
shall be held in the Council Room, Municipal
Building, 710 Bung* Avenue, Asbury
Park, New Jersey, *t 11:00 A. M. on the
26th day of March, 1983, on the matter*
•forewid.
It b FURTHER ORDERED that at
the time and place aforesaid, the New Jer-
• • toy Natural Gas Company furnish the
Beard with statistical data, supported by
written statements and testimony which
will disclose the facts with respect to the
aforesaid and any other matters relating
thereto.
It is FURTHER ORDERED that at
the time and place, aforesaid, the New Jer-
•ey Natural Gas Company furnish the
Beard with following specific data, supported
by written statements and testimony:
1. Comparison of cost to customers
of natural gas with that of manufactured
gas in each service area
and for etch class of service.
2. Effect of meter accuracy to show
whether the flew of natural gas
accelerates its action so that it records
a greater consumption.
3. Records of all instances where
new or corrected meters have
been installed by die Company
and the effect on the bub of the
customers.
4. Tabulation of complaints received
from customers classified as follows;
(a) high bill*, (b) adjustments
of appliance*, (c) raitcellaneeus,
by weeks, from August
10, 1952.
5. And such ether data as may be required
by the Beard.
It b FURTHER ORDERED that New
Jersey Natural Gas Company be prepared
•t the hearing aforesaid to offer evidence in
explanation of the reason for ha failure to
• supply gas at lower rates.
It u FURTHER ORDERED that New
Jersey Natural Gas Company publish this
order in all the newspapers printed and di»tributed
in die Company'* service area*
* new furnished with natural gas, twice not
less than seven (7) days apart prior to the
date set for hearing.
The Board will enter such Order as it
deems just, and proper in the premise*.
