The first edition of this newsletter (originally
called Dargaville Online) was published on the
29 th February 2008 (a leap year). You can read
it and all other editions by clicking here.
In that time we have exposed, insulted,
upset, informed, and questioned people and
events in our community here in the Kaipara
– and beyond as well. In turn we have been
challenged, threatened, insulted, thanked,
and widely read by more than 3500 people
each week across the globe. It is reported by
insiders that the last Mayor of the District was
well know for mumbling about the editorials
and exposes that we have published on his
councils performance. We are not flavour of
the year with other local weekly newspapers as
we can get out “special editions” as required
when major events occur. That is the advantage of Internet publications over print media.
We also publish advance notice of events that are going to happen in and around the District totally free of charge.
Please let us know about your events well in advance so we can help you promote them.
If you have any thoughts, suggestions, criticisms, or just want to sound off – then send a letter to the editor. We publish
all letters received, usually without any editing, as long as they do not contain illegal content or images.
A big thank you to all who read this newsletter and contribute thoughts, ideas, cartoons and jokes every week. While
you may not always get an acknowledgement we do our best to entertain.
Some Interesting Feedback
The comments in last weeks newsletter about the performance of the Kaipara District Council Commissioners certainly
provoked a reaction. Thank you Clive Boonham for the suggestion in your blog Kaipara Concerns dated 24 Feb 2013
(A View From The West) that this newsletter is a barometer of thinking on the West Coast. Not sure if the comment
is accurate but it is nice to get noticed and acknowledged. Like your blog, this newsletter is the work of mostly one
individual who expresses his opinions for others to think about.
Living in Dargaville can be a very challenging experience for anyone who is a “investigative thinker”. Full of mostly
