HFIR and SNS Complete First Full Year of<br />

Joint Operation<br />

In <strong>2008</strong>, the big word was users! More than 400<br />

users conducted research at SNS and HFIR. This<br />

number grew from fewer than 100 in 2007 (see<br />

graph on page 76). It was a year for tremendous<br />

development as well, with improvements being<br />

made in proposal management and user access<br />

and amenities.<br />

Proposal Management<br />

This was also the first full year of operation<br />

for the Integrated Proposal Tracking System<br />

(IPTS). The number of external proposal<br />
