Barring unprecedented and unexpected<br />
advances in enrollment <strong>of</strong> traditional students,<br />
the overall size <strong>of</strong> our housing inventory<br />
should be adequate to meet requirements<br />
through 2015. But aging and outdated facilities<br />
must be replaced or substantially renovated<br />
within the planning period. In addition, surveys<br />
conducted in conjunction with a 2004 housing<br />
master plan indicated that we need to add new<br />
living options to the inventory, including the<br />
suite-style rooms that are featured in the three<br />

new halls that will be operational by fall 2008.<br />
<strong>The</strong> ongoing project will replace more than 300<br />
beds in the near-term. Further stages <strong>of</strong> the<br />
residential renewal envisioned in this facilities<br />
development plan will renovate our remaining<br />
traditional halls and modernize our apartment<br />
facilities. <strong>The</strong> result will be a “ladder” <strong>of</strong><br />
living options for students to progress from<br />
traditional rooms as freshmen to more<br />
independent living choices as they achieve<br />
upper division status.<br />
