GLOSSARY OF SELECTED TERMS<br />

[Authorized] Visitor – A person who has a lawful or rightful purpose to access the proposed<br />

TSF.<br />

Building Envelope – A term used to describe the collective network of epoxy coated concrete<br />

walls, bunding, trenches, and sumps in the plant spaces. The building envelope is designed<br />

to serve as a secondary containment volume for the liquid hazardous waste that will be<br />

treated, stored, and managed at the proposed TSF, with an approximate total volume of<br />

95,750 gallons.<br />

Employee – A person who works for or is contracted by PMR <strong>LLC</strong>, as opposed to an<br />

[authorized] visitor.<br />

Hygiene Gas – The interior air in the plant spaces.<br />

Privacy Berm – A 10-foot tall berm that lies just inside the perimeter fence of the proposed TSF<br />

compound. The privacy berm serves as security barrier, as well as a fire protection barrier<br />

against wildfires.<br />

Pig – A DOT-approved carbon steel container that is designed to hold approximately one metric<br />

tonne of elemental mercury.<br />

Plant Spaces – All areas of the proposed TSF Building excluding the Office Area.<br />

PMR <strong>LLC</strong> – A wholly owned subsidiary of Barrick Goldstrike Mines Inc., that is proposing to<br />

build and manage a hazardous waste treatment and storage facility. PMR <strong>LLC</strong> will own the<br />

proposed TSF, the proposed TSF Building, and the proposed TSF compound.<br />

Proposed TSF – The facility described in this application which will be physically defined by a<br />

perimeter fence. The proposed TSF, APN #005-530-17, will be issued an EPA ID number.<br />

The proposed TSF will be comprised of the proposed TSF Building and all the contiguous<br />

land area of the APN. The proposed TSF defines the <strong>RCRA</strong> regulated area of the proposed<br />

TSF compound wherein hazardous waste may be treated and managed. Conversely, no<br />

hazardous waste will be treated or managed outside of the proposed TSF.<br />

Proposed TSF Building – The actual building located within the proposed TSF wherein<br />

hazardous waste may be treated and managed.<br />

Proposed TSF compound – The portion of land that roughly occupies the northwest corner of<br />

Range 50 East, Township 29 North, Section 5 in Eureka County, Nevada, whereupon the<br />

proposed TSF and Utility Building will be located. The proposed TSF compound is<br />

physically defined by a perimeter fence that will lie outside of a proposed privacy berm.<br />

Satellite Wastes – Miscellaneous articles, such as: rags, PPE, gloves, paper, tools, etc. that may<br />

become contaminated with mercury during routine operations in the plant spaces.<br />
