Bus<strong>in</strong>esses can be susceptible to contract<strong>in</strong>g ‘flavours-of-the-month.’ Because it is imperative that <strong>susta<strong>in</strong>ability</strong> becomes<br />

more than just a pass<strong>in</strong>g fad, the NBS Leadership Council identified ‘<strong>embedd<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>susta<strong>in</strong>ability</strong> <strong>in</strong> corporate <strong>culture</strong>’ as one of<br />

our priorities <strong>for</strong> 2010.<br />

this report is the result of a year’s work to compile what the <strong>in</strong>ternational research tells us about <strong>embedd<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>susta<strong>in</strong>ability</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>culture</strong>. the research team filtered through thousands of articles and books to summarize the best available evidence and<br />

provide you state-of-the-art <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> your decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

We would like to direct you to the key framework, found <strong>in</strong> the executive report and on page 14 of this report. this tool will<br />

help you identify gaps <strong>in</strong> your current program and implement new practices to <strong>in</strong>tegrate <strong>susta<strong>in</strong>ability</strong> <strong>in</strong>to the fabric of your<br />

organization.<br />

please review the detailed list of practices <strong>in</strong> the report. I’m confident you will f<strong>in</strong>d some practices you’ve never be<strong>for</strong>e<br />

considered. Susta<strong>in</strong>ability requires us to be bold and try new th<strong>in</strong>gs. together, we can make <strong>susta<strong>in</strong>ability</strong> part of the dNa of<br />

bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />
