Since Wavelan-I MAC does not provide retransmissions,<br />

DSR performs retransmits itself<br />

DSR per-hop ack needs to contend for wireless medium<br />

Time to get the ack (RTT) is dependent on congestion<br />

TCP-like RTT estimation and RTO used for triggering<br />

retransmits by DSR on each hop<br />

This is not very relevant when using IEEE 802.11 where the<br />

ack is sent immediately after data reception<br />
