12. Press ‘ZERO’. The instrument will display “---”<br />

followed by “0.00”.<br />

13. Within 30 minutes after the 3 minute waiting period,<br />

place the reagent sample cell prepared in step 5 into<br />

the cell holder with the diamond mark facing the<br />

keypad.<br />

14. Tightly cover the reagent sample cell with the<br />

instrument cap (flat side facing the back of the<br />

instrument).<br />

15. Press ‘READ’. The instrument will display “---”<br />

followed by the results in mg/L iron.<br />

CALCULATIONS<br />

Multiply the mg/L iron reading (obtained in step 15, above)<br />

by 5 to obtain the iron content of the sample in g/L:<br />

g/L iron = (reading in mg/L iron from step 15) x 5000 fold dilution<br />

1000 mg/g<br />

g/L iron = (reading in mg/L iron from step 15) (5)<br />

Example:<br />

g/L iron = (0.89 mg/L) (5)<br />

g/L iron = 4.45 g/L<br />
