The St-Ambroise Montreal <strong>FRINGE</strong> Festival continues to make its mark on <strong>the</strong> visual arts<br />

world with its highlight event Galerie <strong>FRINGE</strong><br />

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 – The St-Ambroise Montreal <strong>FRINGE</strong> Festival is happy to announce<br />

<strong>the</strong> return of Galerie <strong>FRINGE</strong>! Taking place <strong>at</strong> Studio Beluga from June 8 th -9 th , this art exhibit<br />

fe<strong>at</strong>ures over 35 artists from various visual art disciplines. This visual art exhibit run by <strong>FRINGE</strong><br />

rules is guaranteed to deliver a surprise for all. As with every year <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>FRINGE</strong> Festival, expect<br />

<strong>the</strong> unexpected!<br />

Boasting an approach emphasizing accessibility and affordability, artists were invited to submit on<br />

a first come, first accepted basis. Artists will be exhibiting <strong>the</strong>ir work with no cur<strong>at</strong>orial direction and<br />

no censorship from <strong>the</strong> festival. Also in tandem with <strong>FRINGE</strong> rules, <strong>the</strong> artists will keep 100%; <strong>the</strong><br />

festival will not withdraw any commissions from <strong>the</strong>ir efforts.<br />

Our team of visual artists g<strong>at</strong>her outside <strong>the</strong> <strong>FRINGE</strong> park, on <strong>the</strong> Main, during <strong>the</strong> street sale,<br />

where <strong>the</strong>y are given "carte Blanche" to cre<strong>at</strong>e <strong>the</strong>ir ultim<strong>at</strong>e <strong>FRINGE</strong> masterpieces! (or not. We<br />

have no say!)<br />

The St-Ambroise Montreal <strong>FRINGE</strong> Festival is <strong>the</strong> ultim<strong>at</strong>e summer happening to hit up for th<strong>at</strong><br />

unbe<strong>at</strong>able neighborhood feel! Block party and performing arts collide every June in <strong>the</strong><br />

Pl<strong>at</strong>eau/Mile-End for this celebr<strong>at</strong>ion of cre<strong>at</strong>ivity without limits th<strong>at</strong> includes music, comedy, dance,<br />

visual arts and <strong>the</strong><strong>at</strong>re from over 500 performers. The St-Ambroise Montreal <strong>FRINGE</strong> Festival is<br />

bilingual, and includes local, n<strong>at</strong>ional and intern<strong>at</strong>ional artists from Montreal to Greece to<br />

Japan! The 22 nd edition of <strong>the</strong> festival runs from June 4 th -24 th , 2012.<br />

Studio Béluga is a non-profit organiz<strong>at</strong>ion run by a collective of artists, arts educ<strong>at</strong>ors and<br />

cur<strong>at</strong>ors, established with <strong>the</strong> goal of facilit<strong>at</strong>ing artistic practices and forming a self-pedagogical<br />

cre<strong>at</strong>ive community. Studio Béluga strives to gener<strong>at</strong>e new opportunities for <strong>the</strong> exhibition and<br />

dissemin<strong>at</strong>ion of cre<strong>at</strong>ive projects and to foster collabor<strong>at</strong>ions across disciplines through<br />

programming th<strong>at</strong> includes exhibitions, <strong>the</strong>m<strong>at</strong>ic and self-directed residencies, and public events.<br />

With <strong>the</strong> board of directors spread across Canada in Montreal, Toronto, Brandon and Vancouver,<br />

exhibitions and events take on <strong>the</strong> challenge of countering traditional gallery models, and fostering<br />

cre<strong>at</strong>ive possibilities th<strong>at</strong> draw from <strong>the</strong> nomadic n<strong>at</strong>ure of <strong>the</strong> collective.<br />
