PRINCIPAL INSTRUCTOR<br />

John Dunkle, P.E., CPESC, CMS4S<br />

John has been a practicing civil engineer since 1981, and is<br />

a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control<br />

(CPESC), and a Certified Municipal Separate Storm Sewer<br />

System Specialist (CMS4S). Working with both private<br />

developers and municipalities on site planning and<br />

development projects, John has prepared and reviewed<br />

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP’s), provided guidance for<br />

Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4’s), participated with DEC<br />

in the development of the current stormwater regulations, and conducted<br />

stormwater trainings for contractors, developers, engineers, and municipal<br />

officials. John also teaches a graduate level Stormwater Management class<br />

at SUNY-Environmental Science & Forestry, and has been conducting<br />

stormwater trainings across NY State for over 7 years.<br />

WORKSHOP FEES<br />

All workshops are one-day sessions with a fee of $230 per session.<br />

A reduced fee of $100 will be charged for members of the Stormwater<br />

Coalition of Monroe County for each session. A 10% discount will be given<br />

to each person registering for all five core courses. Fees include handouts<br />

distributed in class, refreshments, and lunch.<br />

Workshops may require the use of the NYS Stormwater Management<br />

Design Manual and/or the NYS Standards and Specifications for Erosion<br />

& Sediment Control. You may download them for free from the NYS-DEC<br />

website (www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/8694.html) or order them hardcopy<br />

for a fee through the Empire State Chapter Soil & Water Conservation<br />

A comprehensive class that explores<br />

the fundamental elements of<br />

stormwater analysis and design in<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> State.<br />

Designing & integration of GI<br />

techniques in development. This<br />

class will utilize the new NYS-DEC<br />

Notice of Intent (NOI) form, and the<br />

new NYS-DEC spreadsheet for<br />

computing Runoff Reduction volume<br />

(RRv). NYS-DEC representatives will<br />

be on site for Q&A.<br />

A follow-up to last year’s<br />

introduction to linear project’s.<br />

Design techniques and practices<br />

applicable for achieving permit<br />

compliance for E&S control, peak<br />

flow mitigation, pollutant removal,<br />

and runoff reduction on confined site<br />

conditions will be covered.<br />

Permit requirements and available<br />

GI practices for stormwater<br />

management on previously<br />

developed sites. Project design<br />

exercises will be completed during<br />

class.<br />

Issues that influence private and<br />

public sector development, including<br />

natural, economic, political,<br />

regulatory, sociological,<br />

philosophical, and even<br />

psychological factors.<br />

Monroe, State of <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>, specialized grant opportunities, and fundraising programs. All<br />
