ATCHLEY, BEN W., age 78,
of Madisonville, passed away
3:00 p.m. Monday, January
7, 2013 at home after a 3
year battle with cancer. He
was a well known businessman
and civic leader. He was
a charter member of the
Monroe County Rescue
Squad. His greatest love besides
his family was coaching
youth sports for 40 years including
basketball, football
and baseball. He was a role
model for thousands of children.
He was a member of
First Baptist Church of Madisonville
and was a veteran of
the United States Army. Preceded
in death by parents,
Jack and Flora Atchley, sister,
Valarie Atchley Robertson
and brother, Joe Atchley. He
leaves his wife of 57 years,
Pat Atchley; sons, Donnie
Atchley, Ronnie Atchley and
wife Kim, daughter, Leesa
Atchley Robbins and husband,
Gary Robbins, all of
Madisonville; grandchildren,
Cassie Robbins Thompson
and husband, Wes Thompson,
Kevin Atchley and wife,

by his loving family, at Sweetwater
Hospital. He was preceded

Graham; an infant sister, Minnie
Duckett; and 4 brothers,

the 11:00 a.m. committal

MILLSAPS SR., WILLIAM
H. "SHORTY", 75, closed his
eyes and found peace on
Sunday, January 6, 2013
after an extended struggle
with heart and kidney failure.
Born in Sweetwater, Tennessee,
he settled in Akron
as a teenager and lived a full
life here. He owned and operated
L&S Rubbish and retired
from AMHA. In
retirement he spent his time
catering to his grandchildren,
driving truck for his nephew,
David, and holding down a
chair at Slaughter Tire. Preceded
in death by his father
and mother, William M. Millsaps
and Ida Mae Millsaps-
Freeman; stepfather, John
Freeman; brother, John; sisters,
Stella, Geneva and Carolyn;
father and
mother-in-law, Michael and
Pattie Birchak; brother-in-law,
Charles; and sisters-in-law,
Chris and Dawn; Shorty is
survived by his wife of 53
years, Catherine; sons, Bill
and Mike Millsaps; daughter,
Pattie (Ron) Linger; grandchildren,
Veronica, Janie and
Cassie Linger, Michael and
Hunter Millsaps; brother,
Frank (Lena); sisters, Martha,
Rosie (Jimmy), and Eileen;
as well as by many nieces
and nephews and their children;
along with other relatives
and friends. Funeral
service will be held Saturday,
1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier
Funeral Home,

BROWN, 90, of Loudon
passed away Tuesday, January
8, 2013 at her home. She
January 11 , 2013
was a member of Valley View
Freewill Baptist Church and
she and her late husband,
Billy Presley operated the
B.E. Presley Appliance center.
