National Recovery Act? None but <strong>the</strong> same Peter<br />

Schlemihl who is now half out <strong>of</strong> his mind about <strong>the</strong><br />

approaching spectre <strong>of</strong> collectivism. 18<br />

Or, as Nock summed it up,<br />

The simple truth is that our businessmen do not want a government<br />

that will let business alone. They want a government<br />

<strong>the</strong>y can use. Offer <strong>the</strong>m one made on Spencer’s model,<br />

and <strong>the</strong>y would see <strong>the</strong> country blow up before <strong>the</strong>y would<br />
