lithium batteries, due to their excellent properties, are the
energy source of the future. with approximately twice as high
energy density than nimh cells, together with the very low selfdischarge,
this technology is the optimal energy source for many
applications - from mobile drive to medical technology. in addition,
li-ion battery packs are thermally stable, highly resistant to cold
and have no memory effect. anSmann offers this technology from
simple li-ion cells to complex li-ion battery packs with integrated
charging technology, protection and manufacturer-independent interface.
all cells are subjected to strict safety, functional and cycle
tests. if desired, certification of li-ion battery packs (such as un
transport regulations) can be offered. the anSmann project team
supports its customers through the entire process from concept
through to series production of complete battery packs.

intelligent modular system, chargers for all types of li-ion
technology are readily available without any additional
development effort. the charge monitoring is tailored to the
appropriate battery chemistry.
through the use of software-based algorithm, customising to a
particular specification can be achieved at relatively low cost.
country specific primary plug, interchangeable primary plug and
individual secondary connectors can all be provided, dependant on
the specific requirement.

LItHIuM-eISeN-PHoSPHAt
im bereich der lithium-akkus etabliert
sich eine neue technologie:
lithium-eisen-phosphat-zellen (lifepo4) haben

in the field of lithium batteries, a new
technology has been established:
lithium iron phosphate cells (lifepo4) have,
compared to other lithium battery technologies,
significant advantages. these include rapid
charge, rapid discharge and very high operating
temperatures. lithium iron phosphate cells can
achieve higher operating conditions and a higher
number of cycles than compared to standard
lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries.
for this new battery technology, anSmann
has developed microprocessor controlled
chargers that are matched to the voltage of
these cells with a nominal 3.3 V per cell.
the standard units are available on a short

cccV technology for charging li-ion batteries
(constant current / constant Voltage). until
the cells reach their end charging voltage, they
are charged with a constant current, after which,
they are charged with a constant voltage.
during the constant voltage phase, the current
decreases to a pre-determined level, at which
the charging process is stopped. this ensures
that the pack is charged to its optimum
capacity without the possibility of overcharging.

neben den li-ion-geräten auch ladegeräte für blei- und nimh-akkus.
anSmann-ladegeräte für bleiakkus laden mit der iu- oder iuoukennlinie.
diese ladeverfahren sorgen für maximale ladung und
verhindern die überladung (gasung) der akkus.
die leistungsdichte von nimh-zellen wurde in den letzten Jahren
ständig erhöht. dies und die weite Verbreitung dieser technologie

dAS –deltau-verFAHreN
das gebräuchlichste „intelligente“ ladeverfahren für nimh-zellen
ist das –deltau-Verfahren. unabhängig vom ladezustand werden
die akkus vollgeladen, eine überladung wird verhindert. mit diesem
Verfahren sind sehr kurze ladezeiten (hohe ladeströme) realisierbar.

the standard charger range from anSmann includes not
only li-ion chargers but also chargers for lead-acid and nimh
battery technologies.
anSmann chargers for lead acid batteries are available with the
iu or iuou charge characteristics. iuou charging method is used
for maximum charge whilst preventing charge overload (gassing)
of the battery.
the power density of nimh cells has increased steadily in recent years,
making this technology a powerful and inexpensive alternative
for mobile energy applications.
tHe –deltav Cut-oFF MetHod
the most commonly used ‘smart’ charging method for nimh cells
is the microprocessor controlled -deltaV technique. the cells will be
optimally charged regardless of the state of charge at the beginning
of the charging process and overcharging is prevented. using this
technique a very short charge time is possible.

induktionsladung ist die alternative, wenn eine kontaktlose
Stromübertragung benötigt wird. bei diesem ladekonzept wird
die energie mittels induktiver kopplung über ein magnetisches
wechselfeld übertragen. dadurch kann diese technik die ladung eines
endgerätes ohne Verkabelung oder offene ladekontakte realisieren.
durch die induktions-technologie wird der ladestrom vom Sender auf den
empfänger übertragen. die nachgeschaltete ladeschaltung kann individuell
nach kundenspezifikation gestaltet werden. diese kann von der einfachen
dauerladung für nimh- oder pb-akkus bis zu controllergesteuerten ladung
für li-ion-akkupacks realisiert werden. auch die integration der kompletten
induktions-ladeschaltung in einen akkupack ist realisierbar.
der ladevorgang erfolgt durch das auflegen und die automatische
erkennung des jeweiligen endgerätes. Vorteil dieser drahtlosen
Stromübertragung ist unter anderem, dass keine kontaktprobleme
durch Verschmutzung oder oxidation auftreten können, da bei
der induktionsladung keine direkte elektrische kontaktierung
erforderlich ist. dies ist für endgeräte interessant, die in rauher
umgebung eingesetzt werden sollen. ebenso können auf diese
weise applikationen in spritzwasser- oder eX-geschützten gehäusen
einfach und bequem geladen werden.
induction charging is an alternative when a non-contact
power transmission is required. with this charging approach,
an electromagnetic field is used to transfer energy between two
objects. therefore, this technique can charge a device without
charging contacts.
the inductive charge current is transferred from the transmitter
(base station) to the receiver (mobile device). the subsequent
charging circuit can be customised to customer specifications and
can be used for simple trickle charging nimh, lead acid batteries
or controlled charging for li-ion battery packs. the integration
of the complete induction charging circuit in a battery pack can
be realised.
advantages of induction charging are that it carries a far lower
risk of electric shock and there are no contact problems due to
contamination or oxidation. this is interesting for applications
that are used in harsh environments and applications in splash or
explosion-proof housings.
