Så är det också med detta projekt<br />

och allt som det rör. Därför vill vi tacka,<br />

tacka alla som ser värdet i ett sånt här<br />

projekt, som stöttar, hjälper till, ifrågasätter<br />

och håller det vid liv. Såklart tack<br />

till juryn som fick kämpa, <strong>KulturUngdom</strong><br />

som fick ha tilltro och bevisligen såväl<br />

hjärterum som stjärterum, Västra Götalandsregionens<br />

alla konstbeslutare och<br />

fantastiska genomförare, Ungdomsstyrelsen,<br />

alla deltagande kommuner, alla<br />

föreläsare, Yulia Usova och mest av alla:<br />

Konstnärerna! I allmänhet alla konstnärer<br />

men i synnerhet ni som deltar i Kmerkt<br />

KONST, som alla med ödmjukhet,<br />

entusiasm och vilja signerar K-merkt<br />

KONST. Till er är denna katalog tillägnad<br />

och alla intäkter från den går till er.<br />

Mina damer och herrar; låt oss presentera,<br />

de K-merkta KONSTnärerna:<br />

The idea behind K-merkt KONST is very simple:<br />

We wanted to create a forum and a space<br />

for young art in Västra Götalandsregionen.<br />

As simple as that, nothing more. We believed<br />

that there wasn’t really a common ground<br />

for young artists, at least not all of them,<br />

together. Some could be found at the art<br />

academies, some at the folk high schools,<br />

and some where to find in their own private<br />

studios. We wanted them to meet, to throw<br />

them into the mixer and make a delicious<br />

smoothie that could have ten different<br />

flavours at the same time, straggling but still<br />

refreshingly tasty. So that’s what we made!<br />

The result became a travelling exhibition, a<br />

serie of seminaries, the catalogue you are<br />

reading at the moment and finally, as an<br />

summon or conclusion and at the same time<br />

an immortalisation, an online guide book<br />

and forum for young artists. The Idea was<br />

simple, the project became complex, exciting<br />

and bigger then we could foresee.<br />

First of all, we determinably said that we will<br />

commit ourselves and the project to ten<br />

artists, of course we would like everybody<br />

to be part of the project, but our ideas of a<br />

travelling exhibition felt complete and we<br />

chose to make a selection rather then letting<br />

it entirely free. The instructions to the jury on<br />

the other hand, were very strict; There were<br />

to be a fifty/fifty division regarding sex, only<br />

half the group were allowed to currently be<br />

studying at-, or were thru with their studies at<br />

an higher artistic education. – You will neither<br />

know the names of the applicants, nor background<br />

or sex in a first stage. Later, when the<br />

first round of selection has been made, you<br />

will acknowledge the previous instructions.<br />

The process of convincing all of the regional<br />

established or non-established venues for art,<br />

to receive and accept a project, did from<br />

the beginning seem to be easier said than<br />

done. At the time we couldn’t even show a<br />

sample of what art it were to contain, only<br />

capable of presenting its humble and yet<br />

firm idea. Send outs of never before seen<br />

portions were shipped of, the telephone<br />

bill growing enormous and, all though are<br />

good spirits, a certain worry seemed to appear.<br />

Where were the warm response and<br />

embracing welcoming we were more than<br />

sure of to meet? Would the travelling exhibition<br />

and the seminaries have to be held only<br />

at two places, during only somewhat four<br />

weeks of time? Were we forced to rethink our<br />

plan, to tone it down, to restrict our grand<br />

idea?<br />

Then suddenly, like the dandelion’s seed<br />

capsules that are swept away by the hand<br />

of a light breeze, the news of K-merkt KONST<br />

seemed to have spread both high and low in<br />

the art-western-region and both for autumn,
