David
Ohlsson
I projektet ”My favourite things”
kom nästan all inspiration ifrån mitt byggnadsmaterial , vilket
Born 1985 in Småland, grew up afraid to death of Thomas Quick and everything else.
I have as long as I can remember, always drawn pictures seen in comics, encyclopedias
a.s.o. In high school I started creating collages, something that turned out to
be the main thread in my work further on. Started painting in the upper secondary
school, continued on until the second year at Göteborgs Konstskola (“Gothenburg
Artschool”), where I instead gained the interest of viseting flee markets and gluing
things together, things that now can be seen in this exhibition.
For me inspiration can consist out of absolutely anything, anything from a newspaper
headline to a party whit the relatives. In the project “my favourite things” almost all
of the inspiration came from the material, which almost exclusively consists of worn
old toys and such, both my own and others. I found my self heading straight for the
toy departments of the different flee markets and I would buy anything that I felt had
a connection, some kind of an inherent spark of inspiration. The actual “work” with
M F T, was really not different from the playing and toying of childhood, stacks and
piles with knickknacks in different groupings on the floor that eventually becomes a
certain amount of utterly delicate objects that all are sculptured from the same idea.
