”Kissing the Mirror” är en del av ett större projekt
om Identitet. Det är ett fortfarande pågående
projekt där jag arbetar kring samhällets normer,
regler och gränser för hur man får vara. Jag
är intresserad av vart gränser sätts. När går
någonting från att vara rätt till att bli fel? Och
hur reagerar omgivningen på det? Hela projektet
utgår från känslor och tankar kring att
vara ung. Om sökandet efter en identitet och
sökandet efter sig själv, samtidig som samhällets
och omgivningens krav på att man ska passa in
blir hårdare.
I ”Kissing the Mirror” har jag arbetat kring sexualitet
och egenkärlek. Fotografierna är självporträtt
tagna i spegelbilder. Jag har undersökt min
egen syn på sexualitet och vidare utforskat den.
Samtidigt som jag har arbetat med samhällets
sexuella normer. Med bilderna vill jag provocera,
men också kommunicera. Hur behandlas
unga idag? Hur ska kraven på att vara den
du är sammanfogas med kraven på att alltid
passa in? Vad händer med de som hamnar
utanför? Vad händer med de som passar in?
Lista över 5 saker jag inspireras av:
- Människor och hur de förhåller sig till sig själva
och till sin omgivning.
- Musik.
- Rörelser, främst långsamma.
- Nyheter av olika slag.
- Övrigt.
”Kissing the Mirror” is a part of a bigger project dealing
with identity. The project is in progress and I’m
working with questions of rules and boundaries of
behavior, put up by the society. What interests me is
where that certain boundary is. When has something
turn from right to wrong? And how do the surrounding
public react on it?
The entire project is based upon feelings and
thoughts about being young. About the search for
identity and the search for your self, along with the
increasingly pressures on fitting in, put on you by the
society and general public.
In ”Kissing the Mirror” I’ve worked with the subject of
sexuality an self loving. The photos are self portraits
shot in a mirror.
I’ve examined my own view on sexuality and then
studied it further, the same time as I’ve worked with
the sexual norms of the society.
I want to use the photos to provoke, but also to communicate.
How are young people treated today?
How should the pressure on you to be your own be
combined with the pressure on you fitting in? What
happens to the ones that are left outside? What happens
to the ones that do fit in?
