Dear visitor, 

We are delighted that you have chosen Oslo and the Oslo Pass. 

In 1984 the Oslo Pass was launched as one of the very first city cards in Europe. 

Today, there are more than 40 cities in Europe offering city cards, most of them offering 

free public transport and free entrance to museums and sights in addition to 

other activities and services. 

With its 1000 year old history, Oslo is the oldest of the Nordic capitals. The city, surrounded 

by islands and forested hills, is found at the end of one of Norway's most 

beautiful fjords. From the Viking age until today, people have looked to this place as 

a safe haven for trade, industry and cultural enrichment. Today, Oslo has a population 

of about 580 000 inhabitants, and is the nation's financial, political and cultural 

centre. If you allow yourself the time to wander in the city's streets, parks, forests 

and along the beaches, you will get a feel for the capital's abundant history in its character. 

Oslo is the capital of the changing seasons. The surrounding countryside 

makes its mark on the city's inhabitants and buildings and the people's rhythm and 

life-style changes with the weather. You will be able to discover a city which is full of 

life all year round, both in the narrow streets and the vast forests. Oslo is the city of 

variation and contrast. Oslo is also Munch’s, Vigeland’s and Ibsen’s city.

Oslo Pass stemples med dato og klokkeslett ved første gangs bruk (billettmaskin/sjåfør 

eller resepsjon til attraksjon), og er deretter gyldig i det antall timer 

som er angitt på Passet, enten 24, 48 eller 72 timer. Oslo Pass for barn gjelder for 

barn til og med 15 år. Oslo Pass må vises uoppfordret for kontroll ved brukerstedene. 

To be valid, your Oslo Pass has to be stamped with date and time the first time 

you use it (validator/ chauffeur or reception of attraction). From that point on, 

it is valid for the number of hours indicated on it, either 24, 48 or 72 hours. Children 

Passes are valid for children aged 4 to 15 years old. Please present your Pass on 

request.

How many museums do I have to visit to 

make the Oslo Pass pay for itself? 

The Oslo Pass entitles the holder to free entrance to all the most popular 

museums and attractions. Most of these have a regular entrance fee of 

50-95 NOK per museum. If you e.g. visit the Nobel Peace Center, take 

the ferry boat from the City Hall to the museum island Bygdøy and visit 

one of the museums (e.g. Norwegian Folk Museum) on the peninsula 

your Oslo Pass purchase has already paid off!

Medieval castle from the 13th century. Remodelled to renaissance castle in 

the first half of the 17th century. Today the castle’s beautiful ball-rooms are 

used by the government for State events. The castle chapel, as well as the Royal 

Mausoleum, is open to the public. Groups may reserve guided tours all year round.

art from more than 180 countries. Children’s concerns and opinions are presented 

in changing exhibitions. The museum’s three basic functions are to gather,

DogA Norsk Design- og Arkitektursenter ble etablert av Norsk Form og Norsk 

Designråd, og holder hus i en ombygd transformatorstasjon ved Akerselven. 

Senteret tilbyr skiftende design- og arkitekturutstillinger, konferanser og faglige 

møter, samt butikk og restaurant. Doga fikk Statens Byggeskikkpris i 2006, Cityprisen 

i 2007 og Olavsrosa fra Norsk Kulturarv i 2008. 

DogA Norwegian Centre for Architecture and Design was established in 

2004 by Norsk Form and the Norwegian Design Council and is located in a 

converted electrical transformer station by the Aker river. The centre offers different 

design and architecture exhibitions, conferences and professional meetings, 

as well as a shop and restaurant. In 2006 DogA won the Government’s prize for 

good building design, in 2007 the “Citypris” and in 2008 “Olavsrosa” from the 

Norwegian Cultural Heritage. 

Das Norwegische Design- und Architekturzentrum DogA wurde 2004 vom 

Norwegischen Rat für Form und Design gegründet. In der ehemaligen 

Trafostation gibt es wechselnde Design- und Architekturausstellungen, Konferenzen 

und Fachtagungen. Museumsladen und Restaurant. DogA erhielt 2006 den 

staatlichen Preis für Baugestaltung („Byggskikkpris“), 2007 den „Citypris“ und 

2008 „Olavsrosa“ des norwegischen Kulturerbes.

Museet viser norsk militærhistorie fra vikingtid til den første etterkrigsårene. 

Utstillingene omhandler unionstid med Danmark til 1814, union med 

Sverige 1814-1905, det tyske angrep på Norge 9. april 1940, sjøkrigen under den 

annen verdenskrig og den kalde krigens periode. Historien fortelles på en levende

The museum shows Norwegian military history from Viking times until post 

World War II. The exhibitions present the union with Denmark until 1814, the 

union with Sweden 1814 - 1905, the German attack on Norway on April 9th 1940,

Fotballmuseet presenterer norsk fotball på en overraskende, spennende og 

aktiviserende måte. Det er laget som en fotballkamp. 1. omgang dekker 

norsk fotball i Norge og 2. omgang norsk fotball på den internasjonale arena 

gjennom mer enn 100 år. Guidete turer på landslagsarenaen, i landslagsgarderoben 

og en spesiallaget film. Ny Utstilling: "Drømmen om Premier League" 

The football museum presents Norwegian football in a surprising, interesting 

and interactive way. It follows the premises of a football game. The 1st 

half covers Norwegian football in Norway and the 2nd half presents Norwegian 

international football through 100 years. Guided tours of the national team arena, 

followed by a special-effects film (in Norwegian). New exhibition: “The dream of 

Premier League”. 

Das Fußballmuseum präsentiert norwegischen Fußball auf überraschende, 

spannende und mitreißende Art. Das Museum ist wie ein Fußballspiel aufgebaut. 

In der “ersten Halbzeit” erlebt man norwegischen Fußball in Norwegen. Die 

“zweite Halbzeit” zeigt norwegischen Fußball im internationalen Zusammenhang 

während der letzten 100 Jahre. Führungen durch das Stadion und die Garderoben der 

Nationalmannschaft sowie ein speziell produzierter Film (in norwegischer Sprache).

FRAM er verdens sterkeste skute av tre, og den som har vært lengst nord og 

lengst syd av alle båter. FRAM ble brukt til tre store polarekspedisjoner: av 

Fridtjof Nansen i 1893-1896, av Otto Sverdrup i 1898-1902 og av Roald Amundsen i 

1910-1912. FRAM ble bygget i 1892, og er utstilt med sitt originale interiør og gjenstander.

The FRAM is the world’s strongest wooden ship, and the one that has sailed 

the furthest to the North and to the South. The FRAM was used for three 

great polar expeditions by Fridtjof Nansen 1893-1896, Otto Sverdrup 1898-1902 

and Roald Amundsen 1910-1912. The FRAM was built in 1892. The original ship and 

intact interior and artifacts are on display. Around the ship are interesting and 

detailed exhibitions of polar history. Three films shown continuously. Café. 

Die FRAM ist das stärkste Holzschiff der Welt und ist am weitesten sowohl in 

den Norden als auch in den Süden vorgedrungen. Die FRAM wurde bei den drei 

berühmten Polarexpeditionen von Fridtjof Nansen (1893 -1896), Otto Sverdrup (1898 

– 1902) und Roald Amundsen (1910 – 1912) eingesetzt. Die FRAM wurde 1892 gebaut 

und ist im Original mit gut erhaltener Einrichtung und Gegenständen ausgestellt. Um 

das Schiff herum gibt es umfassende und spannende polargeschichtliche

Galleri Würth ble åpnet høsten 2003. Galleriet er på 103 m 2 og ligger vakkert 

til i skogen ca. 15 km nord for Oslo. Siden starten har galleriet blant 

annet vist separatutstillinger med Pablo Picasso, Günter Grass, Max Ernst, 

Friedensreich Hundertwasser og den norske kunstneren Jakob Weidemann. 

Galleri Würth er åpent for publikum fem dager i uken. Det ligger vegg i vegg med 

Würth Norges hovedkvarter og har egen butikk, kafé og en konferansesal. 

 


Gallery Würth opened in autumn 2003. The Gallery is beautifully situated in 

the woods, about 15 kilometres north of Oslo. Since the start, the gallery 

has had several separate exhibitions with Pablo Picasso, Günter Grass, Max Ernst, 

Friedensreich Hundertwasser (all from the Würth Collection) and the Norwegian 

artist Jakob Weidemann. Gallery Würth is open to the public five days a week. It is 

situated next to Würth Norway’s headquarter and has an own shop, café and a 

conference room. 

Die Galerie Würth wurde im Herbst 2003 eröffnet. Die Galerie liegt wunderschön 

im Wald, etwa 15 Km nördlich von Oslo. Die Galerie hat u.a. Separatausstellungen

The museum opened in 1904 and is one of Norway's most impressive Jugendstyle

Nordic Viking gold treasures and a collection of coins and medals shows Norwegian 

coin history. The ethnographical exhibitions explain the life of indigenous peoples in 

non-western cultures from the Arctic, East-Asia, America and Ancient Egypt. 

Das Historische Museum wurde 1904 eröffnet und ist eins der schönsten 

Jugendstilgebäude Norwegens. Ausstellungen über 9000 Jahre norwegische

Senter for studier av Holocaust og livssynsminoriteter på Bygdøy har en 

permanent utstilling som formidler nazistenes folkemord både i Norge og 

resten av Europa. HL-senteret holder til i Villa Grande, hjemmet til Vidkun Quisling, 

som ledet kollaborasjonsregjeringen under den tyske okkupasjonen av Norge. 

Besøkende er velkommen til å benytte senterets bibliotek, nyte en kopp kaffe i 

kaféen eller ta en spasertur i den vakre hagen med utsyn over Oslofjorden. 

The Center for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities at Bygdøy has 

a permanent exibit tracing the Nazi genocide in Norway and Europe as a 

whole. It is located in Villa Grande, the home of Vidkun Quisling who led the puppet 

government during the German occupation of Norway. Visitors are welcome to 

use the Center’s library, enjoy a cup of coffee in the café or take a walk in the 

beautiful garden overlooking the Oslo fjord. 

Das Holocaustzentrum auf Bygdøy hat eine permanente Ausstellung, die sich 

mit dem Völkermord während des II WK in Norwegen und ganz Europa befasst. 

Das Zentrum befindet sich in der Villa Grande, der Heimat von Vidkun Quisling, der

Norway's most visited tourist attraction - the Holmenkollen National Ski 

Arena - has been rebuilt for the Nordic World Ski Championships that will 

take place in Oslo in 2011. The new spectacular Holmenkollen arena will open in 

spring/summer 2010. This is where you find Oslo's best view, the world's oldest 

ski museum, a bar in the top tower, 3 souvenir shops, a ski simulator and a café. 

Before the opening of the new arena visitors are welcome at the Visitors Center in 

Kollenstua. 

Norwegens meist besuchte Touristenattraktion - Holmenkollen Kultur- und 

Touristenanlage - wurde wegen der Nordischen Ski Weltmeisterschaften, die

Dramatikeren Henrik Ibsens siste bolig, hvor han hadde sitt hjem fra 1895 til 

sin død i 1906. Leiligheten er restaurert med originale møbler, farger og arkitektoniske 

utsmykninger som i Ibsens levetid. Ibsens arbeidsrom står nøyaktig slik 

som han forlot det. Museet inneholder også en stor basisutstilling i naboleiligheten 

kalt: "Henrik Ibsen - tvert imot." 

The playwrighter Henrik Ibsen's last residence, where he lived from 1895 

until his death in 1906. The apartment is restored with the original furniture, 

colour schemes and architectural embellishments as in Ibsen's time. His study 

remains exactly as he left it. The museum also contains a large exhibition in the 

neighbourflat called: "Henrik Ibsen - On the Contrary." 

Die letzte Wohnung des Dramatikers Henrik Ibsen, in der er von 1895 bis zu 

seinem Tod 1906 lebte. Die Wohnung ist restauriert und mit originalen 

Möbeln, Farben und architektonischen Ausschmückungen aus Ibsens Lebenszeit

Altering exhibitions. The main building was designed by architect Christian 

Heinrich Grosch and belonged to the Norwegian Bank. The new pavilion was 

designed by architect Sverre Fehn. Café Grosch- a small oasis where you can enjoy 

delicious lunch and smaller dishes.

Nasjonalgalleriets kunstsamling er Norges største samling av norsk, nordisk og 

internasjonal kunst. Basisutstillingen viser norsk og utenlandsk maleri og

Naturhistorisk museum består av: Botanisk hage som er en oase midt i Oslo, 

og er åpen hele året. Veksthusene hvor det vises plantenes evolusjon og

Zoologisk museum med norske dyr, dyr fra hele verden og sal for skiftende

The garden is an oasis in the middle of Oslo and is open all year round. In 

the greenhouses, the evolution of plants and exotic plants are displayed. In 

the Geological museum you will find dinosaur fossils, meteorites and gemstones. 

The Zoological museum shows temporary exhibitions as well as Norwegian and 

foreign animals. You find the fossil Ida at the Natural History Museum!

Friluftsmuseet viser 155 tradisjonsrike hus fra Norges regioner samt Gol 

Stavkirke fra 1200. Om sommeren kan barn og voksne oppleve folkedans og 

musikk, lefsebakst, håndverk, husdyr, draktkledde verter, kjøring med hest og vogn 

og historisk lekeplass. Eget program utvalgte helger. Stort førjulsmarked hvert år. 

Helårsåpne innendørs utstillinger om folkedrakt, folkekunst og samisk kultur. Se

The Open-Air Museum shows 155 traditional houses from all over Norway 

including Gol Stave Church from 1200 AD. Many activities during summer: 

folk dancing and music, «Lefse»- baking, handicrafts, domestic animals and hosts 

in traditional costumes. Large annual Christmas Fairs. Indoor exhibits: Folk Dress, 

Folk Art and Sámi Culture. 

Das Freilichtmuseum zeigt 155 traditionsreiche Gebäude aus ganz Norwegen, 

darunter die Stabkirche von Gol aus dem Jahr 1200. Im Sommer: Volkstanz, 

Fladenbäckerei, Handwerk, Museumspersonal in Volkstrachten, Spielzeugausstellung 

und Pferdeschlitten. Jedes Jahr großer Weihnachtsmarkt. Ausstellungen über 

Volkstrachten, Volkskunst und die samische Kultur.

og arbeidsliv. Her holder byens politiske og administrative ledelse til. 

Nobels fredspris utdeles 10. des. Rådhuset stenges enkelte ganger grunnet arrangementer, 

varsles på forhånd. Klokkespill fra Rådhusklokkene. Omvisning mandag og 

onsdag kl 10, 12, 14. Om sommeren alle dager, søndag også kl 16. Tårnomvisning i juli. 

The City Hall opened in 1950. Decorated with motifs from Norwegian history, 

culture and working life. The City’s administrative body and seat of the 

City Council. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in the City Hall on December 10th. 

Please note that the City Hall may be closed on certain days due to special events. 

Notice will be given in advance. Guided tours on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10, 

12 and 14. During the summer season every day. Sundays also at 16. Guided tours 

to the tower in July. Carillon- playing from Rådhusklokkene (the City hall bells). 

Das Rathaus wurde 1950 eröffnet. Dekoriert mit Motiven aus der norwegischen 

Geschichte, Kultur und dem Arbeitsleben. Die Administration der Stadt 

hat hier ihren Sitz. Der Friedennobelpreis wird jährlich am 10. Dezember in der 

Rathaushalle verliehen. Lokale Umstände können eine kurzfristige Änderung der 

Öffnungszeiten bewirken. Die Rathausverwaltung wird etwaige Änderungen so 

früh wie möglich bekannt geben.

Vigeland-museet er Oslos eneste skulpturmuseum. Museet ble opprinnelig 

bygget som atelier, bolig og fremtidig museum for billedhuggeren Gustav 

Vigeland (1869-1943). Den faste samlingen inneholder tidlige arbeider av

The Vigeland Museum is Oslo's only museum for sculpture. The Museum 

was originally built as a studio and residence for sculptor Gustav Vigeland 

(1869-1943). The permanent collection contains amongst others Vigeland's early 

works, his portraits and monuments, as well as the sculptures in the Vigeland park. 

The Museum also shows temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. 

Das Vigeland Museum ist Oslos einziges Skulpturenmuseum. Das Museum 

wurde ursprünglich als Atelier und Wohnung Gustav Vigelands (1869 - 

1943) gebaut. Die feste Sammlung beinhaltet u. a. frühere Werke Vigelands, seine 

Portraits und Monumente sowie Gipsmodelle der Skulpturen im Vigelandspark. Das 

Museum zeigt auch wechselnde Ausstellungen zeitgenössischer Kunst.

Vikingskipshuset viser tre av verdens best bevarte vikingskip. Skipene ble 

funnet i tre store høvdinggravhauger ved Oslofjorden. Her var de haugsatt 

for mer enn 1100 år siden for å frakte sine kongelige eiere til dødsriket. Utstillingene 

omfatter også enestående funn fra gravene; bl.a. skjelettene fra Oseberg og Gokstad, 

sleder, en vogn og en seng, tekstiler og husgeråd. 

Museumsbutikk med stort utvalg av bøker, smykker, suvenirer og postkort. 

The museum has put on display the best preserved Viking Ships ever found. 

The ships were found in three royal burial mounds by the Oslo fjord. The 

ships were buried more than 1100 years ago to carry their royal owners to “the 

other side”. The museum also has on display the unique finds from the graves; skeletons 

from Oseberg and Gokstad, sledges, textiles, kitchen utensils and the only 

carriage from the Viking age ever to be found. The museum shop has a great selection 

of books, jewellery, souvenirs and postcards. 

Im Wikingerschiffmuseum sind die besterhaltenen Wikingerschiffe der Welt 

zu sehen. Einzigartige Fundgegenstände aus den Gräbern: Skelette aus dem 

Oseberg - und Gokstadgrab, Schlitten, den einzigen bis jetzt gefundenen Wagen 

aus der Wikingerzeit, Textilien und Haushaltsgegenstände. Museumsladen mit großer

Voksenåsen er Norges nasjonalgave til Sverige som takk for hjelpen under 

og i de første krigsårene etter 2. Verdenskrig. På Voksenkollen, i en høyde 

av 501 moh. skulle det svenske og det norske flagget vaie side om side i vinden. 

Stedet ble opprinnelig kalt Svenskhemmet da det sto klart i 1960 og skulle være et 

sted hvor det svenske folk skulle få lov til å oppleve Norge. Galleri Voksenåsen 

viser kunstutstillinger av b.l.a Franz og Thomas Widerberg.

Voksenåsen - Oslo's finest view is found here! Voksenåsen was presented 

from Norway to Sweden, given as a token of the gratitude of the Norwegian 

people for humanitarian aid given during WWII and the following years. Situated at 

Voksenkollen, 501 metres above sea level, both Swedish and Norwegian flags 

were to be flown side by side. When opened in 1960, the property was named 

Svenskhemmet and was intended as a place where Swedish people could experience 

all that Norway had to offer.

Zeichen der Dankbarkeit für die humanitäre Hilfe während des 2. Weltkrieges. 

Bis heute wehen daher am Voksenkollen, 501 ü. NN, die schwedische und norwegisch 

Flagge nebeneinander. Heute haust Voksenåsen die gleichnamige Galerie.
