TIME TIME TO TO TO GROW GROW GROW - ADULT BIBLE STUDIES Session I - September 5 th , 12 th , 19 th , 26 th , October 3 rd , 10 th , 17 th , 24 th , 31 st and November 7 th & 14 th Every Christian can benefit from continued study in God’s Word. Time to Grow is our offering of classes on Wednesday nights for the whole family. Through Bible study, the Holy Spirit works to build up our faith as we continue to grow and understand God’s Holy Word. We have a meal available in the fellowship hall starting at 5:00 pm and it’s served until 6:00 pm. The cost is adults $4.00, 5-12 is $3.00 and 4 and under are free. At 6:00 pm we gather in the church for a time of devotion and singing before we are dismissed to our classes at 6:20 pm. The children then go to their own age-appropriate classrooms to study the Bible through story, crafts, games and music. The adults have a variety of classes they can choose from at the same time. Our evening ends at 7:20 pm. There is a nursery available for children under 3. SIGN-UP SHEET CAN BE FOUND ON THE INSERT PAGE IN THE BULLETIN. The Armor of God Led by Sarah Esveldt ~ Teachers’ Lounge [Room #214] Did you know that you are in a battle right now while you are reading these words? It may not seem that way, but God tells us we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces in our lives every day. We are in a war with Satan and his army, but God does not send us out without armor. We are more than equipped to handle the enemy. Based on the words of Ephesians 6:10-20, this study will help you understand the different parts of your armor and how they play a role in the battle against Satan. New Member Class Led by Steve Scharnell ~ Room #206 This class is for those who are interested in becoming a member of St. Paul’s... OR those looking for a refresher course on Lutheran Doctrine. Apologetics Led by Mark Newman (religion teacher at LCLHS) ~ Room #205 1 Peter 3:15 - "Always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in you." Some topics we will dissect this fall: What is Truth? Does God exist? What about evolution? What about other worldviews? If God exists, why is there evil? Can the Bible really be trusted? Is Jesus really God? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? 8 (continued)
A Series of Firsts: A Study of Genesis 1-11 Led by Pastor Paul Borgman ~ Room #204 Genesis 1-11 is controversial in many ways. It is "a series of firsts": the first people, the first sin, the first murder, the first flood. In these chapters, God will set the stage for the drama we call history. It helps us to understand who we are, why we are here, and where we are going. Think about it: that's a mighty big order! Gifts of the Spirit Led by Pastor Steve and Cathie Geske ~ Room #201 What is a spiritual gift? How can I know for sure which of these gifts God has entrusted to me to use? I know I have a certain gift, but how can it be used in God's kingdom? Have any of these questions ever crossed your mind? If so, you may be interested in our class on spiritual gifts. We will traverse through the scriptures and look at the gifts God gives his people and how these gifts can be used in His church. Some of the gifts we will discuss: administration, evangelism, intercessory prayer, miracles, teaching, prophecy, tongues, wisdom and more. Come and learn what great gifts God has given you and how you can use them to His Glory! United In Christ Program Led by Wendy Petersen ~ Room #219 Who’s invited? All families with kindergarten students (Your children do not have to go to St. Paul’s School in order to participate.) Why come? Adult time! Enjoy a nice homemade dinner with your family with no preparation & clean-up hassle. Have fun getting to know other families at St Paul’s with kids the same age as your own. What will we do? 5:00 Dinner and activity in Room 219 for families. This program runs in conjunction with Time To Grow. The meal will be provided by members of the church. The cost is $4 per adult and $3 per child. Children 4 and under are free. 6:00 Opening in the church with all the other families 6:20 Kids go to their perspective classes or the nursery for a structured adult-led Bible class. Adults go back to Room 219 and talk about topics suggested by group members . There will be a facilitator, but not a leader.
