born just four days later. He is healthy, adorable<br />
and such a testimony to God’s faithfulness. His<br />
adoption was finalized on Nov. 17, 2007. The<br />
Hedricks live in Arizona, where Chris is a children’s<br />
pastor at Chandler Christian Church and<br />
Lesley works as a pediatric oncology nurse one<br />
day a week, so she can spend most <strong>of</strong> her time<br />

Phil (’05) and Alisha (Broach, ’04) Hagelberg<br />
<strong>are</strong> excited to announce <strong>the</strong> birth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir first<br />
son, Noah Obadiah Augustine Hagelberg. Noah<br />
was born on Christmas morning 2007 and was<br />
definitely <strong>the</strong> family’s best Christmas present<br />
ever. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and<br />
was 21.5 inches long. The Hagelbergs <strong>are</strong> now<br />
residing in Seattle, Wash., where Phil works as a<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tw<strong>are</strong> engineer and Alisha is a stay-at-home<br />

Deaths<br />
Edith Adelgunde Giesbrecht (’26) Klempel<br />
died at Ukiah Convalescent Hospital in Ukiah,<br />
Calif., on April 12, 2008 — just 10 days after<br />
her 105th birthday. Born to German immigrants<br />
in Paso Robles, Calif., Klempel was <strong>the</strong><br />
youngest <strong>of</strong> 14 children. Though she had<br />
learned English when she went to public<br />
school, when she got to <strong>the</strong> Bible Institute <strong>of</strong><br />
Los Angeles, she had to re-memorize all <strong>the</strong><br />
Bible verses in English, having learned <strong>the</strong>m<br />
in German. <strong>Biola</strong>’s first dean, R.A. Torrey,<br />
taught one <strong>of</strong> Klempel’s classes in her first<br />
