Dear School of Education Graduate Student,
Welcome to Biola University‘s School of Education Graduate Program. We are delighted to have you as
a part of our community. My prayer for you is that God will richly bless you in spiritual development
and academic growth during your years here at Biola University, so that you might be a more effective
witness and educational leader in your community.
While the purpose of this handbook is to acquaint you with expectations of our community, familiarize
you with the academic programs, and inform you of legal rights to protect your interest and time here,
much of this handbook relates to regulations. For academic guidance and spiritual guidance, we strongly
urge you to regularly see your advisor so that he or she might guide and mentor you during your years
here at Biola University.
We are here to serve you. I hope that your time at Biola will be one in which you enjoy deep Christian
fellowship and build friendships that will last a lifetime. I hope that your walk with the Lord will be
challenged and deepened, and that your prayer life and time in the Word will increase. And, I hope that
you will take every thought captive to Christ and that your heart‘s desire to serve Him more skillfully
will be realized through your graduate work here at Biola University.
Education is all about shaping lives and that is the business that we are in. May the Lord anoint you for
His work in our school systems here and around the world, and may you serve children and youth better
because of skills honed while studying at Biola University.
Welcome!
Sincerely in Christ,
June Hetzel, Ph.D., Dean
