WHEREAS, Looking into the future, as a wise builder, he foresaw the urgent necessity of an
institution which should make possible a higher education, crowned with the glory of the divine
presence, thus perpetuating his ideals of holy life and experience, in a church filled with divine
intensity and power; and,
WHEREAS, It was for those ideals and the conservation and perpetuation thereof, that Dr. Bresee
gladly gave his all, and sacrificed his life; therefore, be it
Resolved, That we express our great sorrow and deep sense of loss in the departure of this holy
man, whose life was eminent for spiritual power; that we also express our sincere appreciation of
his godly example among us in this institution known as the Nazarene University, of which he laid
the foundation for the coming days better than he knew; and that, as a loving father in Israel, a true
scholar and an able teacher, with deep insight into spiritual truth, his memory will ever send forth
the sweetest fragrance among the faculty, the student body, the patrons, and the friends of this
institution; and be it further
Resolved, That we pledge our loyalty to his lofty ideals, and our fidelity to the Pentecostal Church
of the Nazarene, which has been his chief joy and crown; and that we also pledge our most devoted
efforts for the realization of the vision given this great hero of the Cross, until from the doors of this
University, like burning lava from the mouth of a blazing volcano, young manhood and womanhood,
sanctified and empowered, shall be poured forth to destroy evil and to bless the world; and be it
further
Resolved, That we express our deep sympathy for the sorrowing wife and family; and direct that
a copy of these resolutions be spread upon our minutes, and published in The Herald of Holiness,
and that a copy be sent to the bereaved wife and family.
