prepare the way for another. The work moves on with great strides, not according to any human
forecast, but by a divine impulse, to the great joy of the bloodwashed host.
Greatness of the Assembly
Rev. Allie Irick, in a vivid and discriminating analysis of the Assembly, says among other things:
It was remarkable for its sound, cool, sane, and smooth business deliberations. Dr. Bresee
presided with ability, grace, and favor. He can dispatch more work in less time and in tenderness and
love than any man, doubtless, of our day. All the brethren and holy sisters did loyal, faithful work
in their various allotted places.
Perfect harmony and Christian love and grace prevailed throughout this entire assemblage. The
union was deep, sacred, sweet, close, real, thorough, fitting, satisfying, and eternally sealed by the
Holy Ghost. It was more than glorious for the work of salvation in all the services. The power of God
increased, the tides rose, conviction seized the throngs that attended, and salvation rolled in upon us
from on high.
Dr. E. E. Walker
It was during the year 1908 that Dr. Walker, the well known holiness evangelist, one of the
mightiest preachers of full salvation in all the Church of Christ, cast his lot with the Pentecostal
Church of the Nazarene, and became pastor of the First Church at Pasadena, California. He helped
the Bible College greatly, and contributed illuminating and inspiring articles to the Nazarene
Messenger. Dr. Bresee gave the following tribute to this man of God: "Dr. Walker is in the front row,
and that a very short one, in ability to preach the Word. We know of no man in the holiness ranks
who is his superior as a preacher. He is a humble, devoted, anointed man, and we rejoice in the
strength he brings us."
Home Campmeeting
A great holiness meeting was held at the First Church, in Los Angeles, in the early part of
December, 1908, conducted largely by Rev. Seth. C. Rees, and Rev. I. G. Martin.
