Brother Reynolds
Accompanied by Brother Reynolds, with whom I had been associated from the time I reached
Washington City, we went by the way of Chicago, Greeley, Boulder, and Denver to Portland, Ore.,
where we held the Northwest District Assembly, which was the occasion of the bringing together
of a host of that fine division of the army toiling so heroically in that great and growing Northwest,
to kindle fires of true holiness in its cities and towns. It was also a time of the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit, and during the Assembly, and at the home campmeeting which followed a goodly number of
people found the Lord.
After visiting and holding some meetings at Seattle and Everett, both Brother Reynolds and
myself attended the campmeeting and District Assembly of the San Francisco District, at Oakland,
Cal. These were seasons of spiritual power and profit. The campmeeting was a very gracious season
of salvation, a multitude of people finding their way to the altars as seekers and finders of pardon
and purity. The District Assembly was held in connection with the campmeeting, was well attended,
and the business well done, and showed good work and a hopeful outlook. Afterward the District
Assembly of Southern California District was held at Pasadena, Cal., which was a large and earnest
body, and there were business, blessing, and salvation.
Since leaving home to attend this General Assembly, it has been my privilege to hold a three days'
meeting in Denver, Colo., and organize a church with forty charter members, with every prospect
of victory before them. I have also been permitted to join with Brother Reynolds in holding the
Chicago Central District Assembly at the First Church, Chicago, Ill. This was the last of the District
Assemblies of the year, and was a great occasion. Not only was a large amount of important business
attended to, but great blessings were upon the people. At the three great services of the Sabbath,
about twenty-five persons were at the altar; besides, at every service during the Assembly there were
some seeking the way of the Lord, and many found the truth of the Master's words, "He that seeketh,
findeth."
So, by the grace of God, we have come to the close of another year with thanksgiving, trust, and
hope, asking only that we may go on in the way that the Lord himself may appoint, until we find the
outer gates and the loving Master's welcome home.
The Union
Professor E. P. Ellyson, President of the Texas Holiness University, was elected as General
Superintendent, and Dr. Bresee and Rev. H. F. Reynolds were re-elected to the General
Superintendency.
Rev. R. Pierce thus describes this glorious event:
As Brother R. B. Mitchum, president of the Holiness Church of Christ, spoke in a tender way of
the gracious leadings of God up to that moment, and moved that "The union of the two churches be
now consummated," followed and seconded by Rev. C. W. Ruth, John N. Short, J. B. Creighton, H.
B. Hosley, and several others who spoke to the motion, amid great joy and gladness brethren of the
