Walker -- Home Campmeeting Principal Events Of 1908 During the year 1908, Dr. Bresee, in addition to his pastoral and editorial work, his duties as General Superintendent, and his labors as president and lecturer of the Deets Pacific Bible College, found time to take part in a great holiness convention held at the First Church, Los Angeles, by Rev. Bud Robinson, Rev. I. G. Martin, and Rev. Will Huff, in the month of March. About the same time he dedicated the Grand Avenue Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene, in that city. A few days later, he started on an extensive trip of nearly three months' duration, through some of the Southern and Eastern states, including New England and the northwest. During this journey he presided over several great District Assemblies. In July he was the principal preacher at the Beulah Park campmeeting, in Oakland, California. About the same time he held the District Assembly for the San Francisco District. The Holiness Church Of Christ Shortly after the adjournment of the General Assembly of 1907, the Holiness Church of Christ, representing more than 3,000 members in the Southern states, decided to unite with the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene, and requested that a joint session of the General Council of that church and the General Assembly of the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene be held at Pilot Point, Texas, in October, 1908. The General Assembly At Pilot Point Pursuant to this request, and the formal call of the General Superintendents of the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene, the General Assembly met at Pilot Point, on October 8, 1908. The sessions were held in a large tent, with a seating capacity of 1,000. At the opening of the Assembly, Rev. J. D. Scott arose, and on behalf of the Holiness Church of Christ, stated that the time had come to open the joint Assembly. He said: "We have been called together by this joint Assembly of churches, and have here present the representative heads of the two churches." He then called Dr. Bresee, Rev. R. B. Mitchum, and Rev.
