the local church here, and there are evidently more to follow. The promise of the church in this city
is bright.
"The old home church at Los Angeles is well represented in the ministry of this District, among
whom are Brother and Sister McIntyre, and Brothers Valjean, Henricks, and Dilley, all doing valiant
service. Rev. H. D. Brown was reelected District Superintendent for the coming year, and has, with
Sister Brown, a warm place in the hearts of the laborers in this great Northwest. They have given
themselves unstintedly to the work, providing largely for their own necessities.
An Imperial Field
"An empire is being sown down for our work in this vast field. This District will doubtless
average five hundred miles square, and these heroic workers go forth to take it for the work of
holiness.
"The orders of four elders were recognized, and two, Rev. De Lance Wallace, and J. S. Parkins,
were elected and ordained elders. The ordination service was held on Sabbath afternoon, and was
of peculiar interest.
"Some of the young men who are in the oncoming tide of preachers for this Northwest country,
hope to be in the Pacific Bible College next year."
The Work at Monroe
After spending a night and a day in Seattle, at the hospitable home of Brother and Sister Brown,
Dr. and Mrs. Bresee, with Sister DeLance Wallace, went to Monroe, about fifty miles north of
Seattle. They were met by Brother Parkins, the pastor of the church, and entertained by Brother
Pierce. Dr. Bresee preached to good gatherings in the afternoon and evening. Six preachers were
present, with whom he became sufficiently acquainted to have sweet fellowship, and the field
seemed to give promise of future harvests.
Seattle
Returning to Seattle, Dr. and Mrs. Bresee called upon Sister Hervey, of the First Church in Los
Angeles, who was ministering to her brother, Rev. Best, of the United Presbyterian church, who had
been very seriously injured by an automobile. Communion with these saints at the throne of grace,
was peculiarly refreshing. At night there was a delightful service at the Church of the Nazarene, the
house being well filled, and the Spirit of the Lord resting upon the people. At this service, Dr. H. W.
H. Reece, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church, of Seattle, and a friend of other years, was
present, and testified to full salvation. At an after meeting the brethren welcomed Sister Wallace,
who had been called as pastor of the Seattle church.
