There were five articles published in 1930 that provide a good representation <strong>of</strong> the holiness<br />

message that was presented in the God's Revivalist that year. For the most part, they all addressed<br />

different aspects <strong>of</strong> the doctrine, but they collectively proclaimed with precision the message <strong>of</strong><br />

entire sanctification.<br />

In June the editor published an article by J. A. Huffman called "Results <strong>of</strong> the Pentecostal<br />

Experience." Huffman made it clear that Pentecost had an effect upon the lives <strong>of</strong> people that were<br />

involved in this special visitation by God. He warned that we should not just focus on the doctrinal<br />

aspect <strong>of</strong> sanctification but that there was also a practical dimension to this experience. He wrote,<br />

Since the people <strong>of</strong> Pentecost were real people, living in a real world, and were very<br />

much like ourselves, if we can discover what the Pentecostal experience did for them,<br />

we may be able to draw some conclusions as to what the Pentecostal experience<br />

should do for men and women today. [22]<br />

An article called "Radical Holiness" appeared in the July issue <strong>of</strong> the God's Revivalist. In this<br />

writing J. B. Chapman wrote about having a proper view <strong>of</strong> what radical holiness really means.<br />

Chapman points out that being radical pertains to more than what a person wears, where they go or<br />

do not go, or what kind <strong>of</strong> literature they read. He does think that these items deserve some attention<br />

in a holiness person's life, but that they are secondary issues to the Christians. He commented,<br />

Of course, eating and drinking and wearing clothes and reading printed matter and<br />

other employments <strong>of</strong> talent and time are included in every person's living, and are,<br />

therefore, affected by his heart condition. But the man is greater than his manner; and<br />

deeds are products, not creators. [23]<br />

The author was concerned that too many times the world has viewed the church as being radical for<br />

what they do not do instead <strong>of</strong> what they have experienced in entire sanctification.<br />

Chapman believed that if one were radical, he was also peculiar. In fact, he said that holy people<br />

are radically peculiar. Here are some <strong>of</strong> the radical peculiarities he suggested:<br />

They are peculiar in that they have been delivered from the love <strong>of</strong> self and have been<br />

given grace to pour out their lives for the good <strong>of</strong> others. They are peculiar in that<br />

they have been purged from all inbred sin and filled with the Holy Ghost. They are<br />

peculiar in that the power <strong>of</strong> sin over them has been broken and the pollution <strong>of</strong> sin<br />

cleansed away, and they are enabled to live above sin every day and to serve God in<br />

Holiness and righteousness. [24]<br />

This is what he meant by "radical holiness."
