Responsibility for activities Swim lanes In activity diagrams, you use swim lanes to represent ownership relationships. Each swim lane is a rectangle that contains one or more action or activity states and that is connected to the party responsible for them. For example, in the Complete Sales Quote Activity diagram shown below, Sales Person is responsible for the Determine Total Cost of Order, Call Credit Admin, Give Order Info to Credit Admin, and Accept Order activities, while Credit Administrator is responsible for the Evaluate Order and Approve Order activities. Creating a swim lane To create a swim lane: Chapter 3: Activity Models (UML) 30 1 In the UML Activity Diagram Tools tool folder, click and hold on the Capabilities Owned tool.
