1 In the UML Activity Diagram Tools tool folder, click and hold on<br />

the Decision tool.<br />

2 Drag into your activity diagram window and release the mouse<br />

button where you want to place the decision graphic.<br />

3 Click on the window background to close the edit box.<br />

4 Create transitions to and from the decision:<br />

Creating a fork or join To create a fork or a join:<br />

● Using the Next Activity/Action or Next Activity/Action <strong>with</strong><br />

Guard tool, create a transition from the starting state to the<br />

decision.<br />

● Using the Next Activity/Action <strong>with</strong> Guard tool, create<br />

transitions from the decision to each ending state.<br />

1 In the UML Activity Diagram Tools tool folder, click and hold on<br />

either the vertical or horizontal Synchronization Bar tool. The<br />

choice of tool depends only on how you want your diagram to<br />

look. Semantically, these tools are the same.<br />

Tip<br />

After creating a vertical or horizontal synchronization bar,<br />

you can switch its orientation by resizing it.<br />

2 Drag into your activity diagram window and release the mouse<br />

button where you want to place the synchronization bar<br />

graphic.<br />

3 Click on the window background to close the edit box.<br />

4 Create transitions to and from the synchronization bar:<br />
