The figure below shows the first page of the Document report<br />

<strong>FrameWork</strong> generates from the report in the sample report layout<br />

diagram shown earlier in this chapter.<br />

About prefaces The preface is one of the highest-level divisions of a report. You<br />

can use it to provide introductory or explanatory information that<br />

applies to the rest of the report.<br />

A report can have at most one preface. In the report layout model,<br />

the preface is directly connected to the report object. In the<br />

generated Document report, the preface, if present, is at the same<br />

level as the chapters. It also comes before all chapters.<br />

A preface can contain both paragraphs and sections. In the<br />

generated Document report, all the paragraphs directly included in<br />

a preface come before the sections of the preface. While a preface<br />

can contain many paragraphs and sections, only the first one of<br />

each is directly connected to the preface.<br />
