viii) Applications without Employer certificate or with defective Employer Certificate / Nativity Certificate of the categories mentioned above will be considered as “Other State Candidates” and they are not eligible for admission. b) Management quota The following category of candidates are eligible under Management quota i) Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu will be considered under the respective communal quota on production of necessary Community / Nativity Certificate. Candidates who have not produced the Permanent Community Certificate will be treated as “OC” ii) Candidates belonging to Other State with Indian Nationality are eligible and they will be treated as “OC” iii) Foreign Nationals are Not eligible for admission under Lateral Entry Scheme. iv) The Self Financing Engineering Colleges should follow the rules in force prescribed for admitting the students under Management quota. The norms mentioned below under (3) to (5) are applicable to both Government and Management Quota 3. Qualifying Examination a) Diploma Candidates i) A pass with minimum eligibility marks in one of the Diploma Courses in Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu / Equivalent prescribed for the respective Degree courses. b) B.Sc. Candidates i) A pass with minimum eligibility marks in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Science with minimum 3 years duration with 10+2+3 pattern of study with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Degree level. 4. Minimum Eligibility Marks a) The candidates should have obtained the following minimum marks in the qualifying examination Diploma / B.Sc. for eligible to admission. MBC & DNC A minimum average of 45.00% in the Pre-Final and Final Semesters put together SC & ST A Mere pass in the qualifying examination which is same as the passing minimum for Diploma Examinations of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu / B.Sc. Degree Examinations of Universities b) In case of candidates studied in annual pattern, marks obtained by them in the Final year shall be taken into account for arriving minimum eligibility c) marks. Sandwich Diploma: In case of Sandwich Diploma, marks secured in the last two semesters of the course shall be considered. If the industrial training intervenes in any one of the last two semesters then the marks of the previous semester in which there is no Industrial training shall be considered for the purpose of calculation of eligible marks. d) Part time Diploma: In case of Part time Diploma the marks secured in the last 3 semesters examination including private study marks shall be considered. e) Minimum Marks - Rounding Off A candidate seeking admission under Lateral Entry should have necessarily secured the above minimum marks prescribed. Rounding off of minimum eligibility marks is not allowed. 5. Communal Reservation a) The Government in Tamil Nadu Ordinance No. 9 of 2008 have now amended the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Christians and Backward Class Muslims (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions including Private Educational Institutions and of appointments or posts in the services under the State) Act, 2007 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 2007), thereby withdrawing the 3.5 percent reservation provided for the Backward Class Christians so as to enable them to compete within the reservation provided for the Backward Classes. i) Backward Class Muslims 3.5% ii) Backward Classes (Other than 26.5% Backward Class Muslims) Total 30% b) The Reservation of Seats for different Communities:- Quota % of seats reserved Open Competition 31% Backward Classes 26.5% Backward Class Muslims 3.5% Most Backward (MBC) / 20% De-Notified Communities (DNC) Scheduled Castes 18% Scheduled Tribes 1% c) Community Certificate The candidates who do not produce the copy of the Permanent Community Certificate for the community to which they belong such as BC, BC Muslims, MBC, SC and ST along with their application, will be treated as OC.
