1. Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Direct Second year B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Courses under Lateral Entry Scheme for the year 2009-2010 General 2. Nativity Candidates satisfying the following eligibility rules as on 01-07-2009 alone are eligible to apply. Passing the qualifying examination or change of religion etc., after this date shall not be considered. a) Government quota i) Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu with schooling in Tamil Nadu from IX onwards (IX, X, Diploma / B.Sc. Examinations) only will be considered for admission. Other State Candidates are not eligible for admission. However, the following categories of candidates are eligible to apply subject to certain conditions: ii) Children of Central Government Employees otherwise not domicile of Tamil Nadu are also eligible and can compete under Open Competition for admission, irrespective of their domicile, provided their parents or guardians (only if parents are not alive) are serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past Five Years at the time of submission of application which should be supported by enclosing a certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian, to that effect. iii) Children of persons (not domicile of Tamil Nadu) employed in Public Sector or Government Recognized Institutions who at the time of submission of application for admission employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS may also apply and compete for admission under open competition irrespective of their domicile, provided a certificate from the employer is enclosed along with the application that the person is a Permanent employee of the firm or Institution concerned with evidence like Income Tax return, PPF etc., and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS. iv) Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed the IX, X and Diploma / B.Sc. examinations from the Institution situated outside Tamil Nadu are eligible subject to the production of “Nativity Certificate” obtained from Revenue authority. v) Other state candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from IX onwards (IX, X, Diploma / B.Sc. examinations) are eligible under Open Competition only. They need not enclose the “Nativity certificate” vi) Foreign Nationals including Sri Lankan refugees are NOT ELIGIBLE vii) Tamil Nadu candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from IX onwards need not enclose the Nativity Certificate.
