This meeting was held for deciding the price of carry bags to be given by retailers as per the notification issued by MOEF, New Delhi, and Supreme Court order that no carry bags are to be given free. Lecture Presentation on 'World Class Manufacturing' by Dr. W. N. Khatavkar - Sr. Quality Consultant. 40 people attended this lecture-presentation. 2. A talk on 'Poor Quality Costs' by Mr. A. M. Railway, Road, Traffic Committee Chairperson: Mr. Chandmal Parmar Officer : Mr. Parag Kulkarni The committee regularly identifies critical issues and takes them up with concerned Ministers, Departments and Authorities at Central, State and Local level. Matters concerning Railway Commuters Representations on following matters were sent to the concerned authorities viz. the Hon. Railway Minister, Railway Board Chairman, Members of Railway Board, General Manager (CR) and Divisional Railway Manager
(Pune). The Committee also represented important matters with the Central Ministers from Maharashtra and MPs from Pune region to garner support and follow up. • In view congestion of Pune Railway Station due to movement of over 175 trains, MCCIA demanded - A separate terminal for Pune-Lonavla local trains; -Two new terminals for long distance trains originating from Pune viz. at Manjari/Hadapsar for Mumbai and North bound trains plying via Kalyan and at Khadki for South, East and North bound trains plying via Daund. • Speeding up of trains plying between Pune and Mumbai to reduce journey time. • Declaration of Lonavla-Pune-Daund-Jejuri as 'Suburban Zone' to facilitate starting of EMU/DMU service in this section considering growing population in this region. • Merger of Lonavla & Daund Stations as also Daund- Manmad Railway Line under Pune Division enabling it to make necessary commuter friendly improvements. • Speedy completion of electrification of Pune - Daund Section. • Double line with Electrification of Pune-Miraj- Kolhapur section and Daund - Manmad section. • Restarting issuing Ordinary Return Ticket system for the convenience of the commuters especially children, ladies and senior citizens. • Restarting allotment of Passenger Reservation System Terminals – RTSA (Ticketing Agents). This system was convenient for general commuters who could make railway reservations through nearby agents. • Review of security aspect on the Pune Railway Station in view the menace of the terrorist attack at places having higher turnout. • Vigilance by CCTV cameras at Reservation Centers and platforms on the A & B class station in our country. Request for budgetary provision for installation as well as for regular maintenance and monitoring. • Reduction in running time of Kolhapur-Mumbai- Sahyadri Express between Pune and Mumbai to provide better alternative for the working class of people commuting between Pune and Mumbai. • Allow Senior Citizens Concession for Tatkal Bookings. • Improvement in food quality and services rendered to the commuters in the long distance trains and periodic third party surprise audits. 41 th 78 Annual Report 2011-12 Pre Railway Budget Memorandum The committee had appealed MCCIA members and general citizens of Pune, through leading newspapers, to send their expectations and suggestions for the Prebudget Railway Memorandum. The suggestions received from the members, citizens and railway core group members were compiled in the form of MCCIA's pre Railway Budget Memorandum for 2012-13. The salient features were: • Two separate memoranda for Railway Ministry and Pune Division. • Proposals in the memorandum sent to the Railway Ministry included broad chapters viz. new train requirements, increase in frequency of existing trains, Erection of new tracks, infrastructural facilities and improvement in other services. • Proposals in the memorandum sent to the Pune Division included broad chapters viz. Pune Station and Pune Division. Effective Use of ZRUCC Platform The Chairman of the committee has been a member of the Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee (ZRUCC). The committee chairman attended the ZRUCC meetings and raised various matters with respect to the Pune Division. Major issues included starting of additional trains for Mumbai, separate terminal for Local Trains, two new terminals at Khadki and Manjari, speedy completion of electrification of Pune-Daund section, third track between Pune and Lonavla and signalling system improvement. Matters concerning Road Commuters The Committee made representations to Hon. Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister, PWD Minister, respective Secretaries and Departments on the following; • Strengthening of Public Transport System (PMPML) • Safety on Pune Mumbai Expressway All Party Conference on PMPML On the backdrop of the elections for Pune Municipal Corporations, an all party conference was convened with a purpose to understand the views of the political parties on the pathetic condition of Public Transport System in the city and their plans for improving the same.
