Policy / Regulations Related Issues<br />

Energy Committee has actively persuaded policy and<br />

regulation related issues to the regulatory authorities<br />

i.e. MERC. Also representations regarding power /<br />

electricity were made to the competent authorities.<br />

1. Single Point Supply to Commercial Buildings /<br />

Industrial Premises with Mixed Load<br />

MCCIA had filed a petition to Appellate Tribunal for<br />

Electricity ( APTEL ) to resolve the issue on 'Single Point<br />

Supply to commercial complexes with mixed load'<br />

through clarification in the order passed by MERC. After<br />

hearing the concerned parties, Honorable APTEL passed<br />

an order. Aggrieved by this order, the MCCIA preferred an<br />

appeal to Honorable Supreme Court <strong>of</strong> India.<br />

The legal proceedings are underway in the Hon'ble<br />

Supreme Court <strong>of</strong> India.<br />

2. Tariff Proposal <strong>of</strong> MSEDCL<br />

MCCIA submitted suggestions / comments on MSEDCL's<br />

Annual Revenue Requirement ( ARR ) and Tariff proposal<br />

to MERC for FY 11 – 12. MCCIA stressed on major points<br />

such as retaining demand charges to existing level,<br />

reduction in cross subsidy, verification <strong>of</strong> inter-state<br />

transmission loss, and erratic increase in tariff for HT and<br />

LT commercial consumers. Also MCCIA stressed for<br />

reclassification <strong>of</strong> consumers engaged in R & D, product<br />

testing, CAD CAM activities from commercial to<br />

industrial category <strong>of</strong> tariff.<br />

Recent Amendments to Service Tax<br />

Mr. Sanjay Bhargave, Chairman, Excise committee<br />

successfully conducted the workshop with an aim to<br />

create awareness on the amendments in Union Finance<br />

bill 2011. The program covered aspects on inclusion <strong>of</strong><br />

new services covered under Service Tax. The workshop<br />

attracted 92 participants.<br />

Cost Audit Compliance<br />

This program was organised considering the orders<br />

issued by the Cost Audit Branch <strong>of</strong> Ministry <strong>of</strong> Corporate<br />

workshop. The workshop received overwhelming<br />

response wherein 89 participants attended the program.<br />

<strong>of</strong> Central Excise and Service Tax. There were practical<br />

tips on how to fill up various forms and doing<br />

registrations, filing returns, etc. The faculty included<br />

experts, like Mr. Sanjay Bhargave, Mr. Deepak Naik, Mr.<br />

Charu Bhide, Mr. V. V. Umaranikar, Mr. C. S. Chavan, Ms.<br />

Nimmi, Mr. Rajesh Ingale, Mr. Manas Joshi Mr. Avadhoot<br />

A workshop on 'Extensive Business Reporting Language'<br />

(XBRL), was organized to help create awareness and<br />

understanding about the technical terms commonly<br />

Accountant, Mr. Sanjay Mehta, CEO <strong>of</strong> MAIA Intelligence<br />

and Mr. Reggie Fernandes, Director, Sage S<strong>of</strong>tware were<br />
