Faculty : Mr. Bokil awareness program on Industrial safety and prevention of various types of Fires was organized under the guidance of Mr. Suresh Bokil wherein 30 officials participated. Animation and Gaming Committee Chairperson: Mr. Ashish Kulkarni Officer: Ms. Medha Kulkarni 1. Presentation on Tax and Regulatory perspective Gaming + IT Sector There was a presentation on Tax and Regulatory perspective for setting operations in STP vs SEZ. The pros and cons of indirect tax implications connected to the Animation-Gaming and IT industry were presented by Mr. Pramod Achuthan - Partner, Tax , Mr. Nikhil Sharma - Senior Manager, Business Advisory Services and Mr. Raghav Anand - Manager, Business Advisory Services from Ernst and Young. 40 participants attended the program. 2. Animation Day Celebration The program was organized by ASIFA India in November with support from MCCIA. Event highlights for the program were : • “Making of Despicable me” by Macguff Studios • Art of Animation behind Disneys' “Tangled” by Clay Kaytis • Presentation of “Tripura” by Chetan Sharma • Presentation by Chetan Deshmukh on his creative animation • Showcasing various animation/Vfx films. This program was attended by 200 students. th 78 Annual Report 2011-12 MAHRATTA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INDUSTRIES AND AGRICULTURE 18 Story writing / telling competition - award distribution function 3. Story Writing/Telling Competition The Chamber jointly with Vkorus Pvt. Ltd. a New Zealand based technology company organized a story writing / telling competition to encourage cross border creative collaboration. Three prizes were distributed based on maximum viewers' rating, script, sound and animation. The story 'EVOLUTION' written by Equinox Software and Services Pvt. Ltd got first prize for maximun viewers rating. The second prize was given to DREAMLAND a story written by Mr. Ameya Sawadkar and Mr. Ashutosh Deshpande for innovativeness, sight and sound. The third prize was given to the story ESCAPE written by Mr. Anish Bhardwaj for an excellent script. Commodore Anand Khandekar, Immediate Past Chairman, Animation and Gaming Committee and Ex Chief Mentor, Nvidia Graphics Pvt. Ltd. was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Mr. Amit Agarwal, Co-founder Auryn Inc., USA was the Guest of Honour. He delivered a lecture on Story Telling in Modern Age. 30 participants attended the program. Biotechnology Committee Chairperson: Mr. Pramod Chaudhari Officer: Mr. D.V Shukla Meetings, Seminars and Workshops Seminar on Emerging Trends in Bio-based Materials and Products Seminar on Emerging Trends in Bio-based Materials and Products was organized jointly with Polymer Committee of MCCIA to understand the recent developments in Biobased materials and products. 35 participants attended the seminar.
Civil Aviation Committee Chairman : Mr. S. K. Jain Officer : Mr. S. H. Kopardekar This Committee, has been relentlessly working with the Ministries of Civil Aviation, Defense and Agriculture as well as the Government of Maharashtra for upgrading the facilities and enhancing connectivity of the present airport as well as to secure an Independent Airport for the Pune Region, so that it can serve as a hub for International air transport. Interaction with Officials from Hyderabad Airport Mr. S. K. Jain held discussions with Mr. Vikram Jaisinghani - Chief Executive Officer GMR, Hyderabad International Airport and Mr. Sunil Zephaniah K, General Manager – Destination Marketing - Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on using Hyderabad as a possible alternative gateway for passenger and cargo movement. Meeting with Officials from SilkAir Mr. Atwil Yew, Country Manager-India, SilkAir and Mr. Jagdish Bhojwani – Manager, Coimbatore, SilkAir visited the Chamber to interact with MCCIA Office Bearers, Members of Executive Committee and select Industrial representatives about the proposed direct air connectivity between Pune and Singapore. The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Yogesh Dossa of Galaxy Travels, GSA for Singapore Airlines. Meeting with Air Commodore V. R. Chaudhari – Air Officer Commanding, Pune There was a meeting with Air Commodore V. R. Chaudhari – Air Officer Commanding, Pune to discuss various issues connected with Civil Aviation needs of Pune. Mr. Jain briefed Mr. Chaudhari about the initiatives of the Civil Aviation Committee of MCCIA and thanked the Air Force for accommodating Civil Aviation needs of Pune's business community and others. He also informed about the constant efforts of MCCIA for setting up an Independent International Airport for Pune Region and expressed the hope that the required process will start in the near future in the light of recent news items and interactions with the State Government. Interactive sessions with Government Officials Meeting with Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Honorable Chief Minister, Maharashtra State and Mr. Ajitdada Pawar, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra State The Office Bearers of MCCIA called on Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Honorable Chief Minister, Maharashtra State and Mr. Ajitdada Pawar, Honorable Deputy Chief 19 Minister, Maharashtra State to request to speed up the decisions related to the New Independent International Airport, International Exhibition Centre, MVAT reclaim and other important matters. The State Government has decided to reserve alternate site for the same and has agreed to speed up the process of land acquisition and development of the airport. Meeting with Mr. Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil – Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha, Shirur Constituency) A high level MCCIA delegation discussed various issues relating to setting up of the Independent International Airport in Pune region with Mr. Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, Member of Parliament – Loksabha (Shirur Constituency). MCCIA delegation included Dr. Abhay Firodia – President, Mr. Mukesh Malhotra - Immediate Past President, Mr. S.K. Jain-Vice President and Chairman of Civil Aviation Committee, Mr. Vikram Salunkhe – Vice President, MCCIA and Mr. Anant Sardeshmukh – Director General, MCCIA. Meeting of Airport Advisory Committee Mr. S. K. Jain - Vice President and Chairman of Civil Aviation Committee, stressed the need for taking up the work of extending the runway immediately along with critical equipment such as Instrument Landing System. Various other issues related to the Pune International Airport, direct connectivity to Singapore and present conditions of Pune airport were discussed. Interaction with Air Officer Commanding, Pune Air Commodore V. R. Chaudhari, V M Air Officer Commanding, Pune Air Force and Wing Commander Sudhir Babu visited MCCIA. Mr. S. K. Jain – Vice President and Chairman of Civil Aviation Committee, Mr. Anant Sardeshmukh- Director General and Commander Pankaj Joshi- Vice Chairman of Civil Aviation Committee of the Chamber held discussions with him about the MAFI Project – Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure Project, issues relating to extension of the runway at the present airport and development of alternate road by Pune Municipal Corporation.
