vedya – Lord Kåñëa appeared as Kürma-avatära to deliver nectar to<br />
the demigods and remove their poverty; vaidya – He also appeared as<br />
Lord Dhanvantari, the original physician, who cures people’s diseases<br />
simply by the expansion <strong>of</strong> His fame, and gave nectar to the<br />
demigods; sadä-yogé – He always acts for the welfare <strong>of</strong> the<br />
demigods; viraha – He killed the powerful demons eager to fight for<br />
the nectar churned from the celestial Ocean <strong>of</strong> Milk; mädhava – He is<br />
the husband <strong>of</strong> Lakñmi-devé, who appeared from the Ocean <strong>of</strong> Milk;<br />
madhu – He enchanted Lakñmi-devé and all the pious demigods with<br />
His handsomeness and charm; aténdriya – He disappeared from the<br />
demigods along with the nectar, because He always remains invisible<br />
to those without pure devotion to Him; mahä-mäya – He then<br />
appeared in the attractive female form <strong>of</strong> Mohihé-mürti, bewildering<br />
the demons and also Lord Çiva; mahotsäha – He acts to make the<br />
demigods successful; mahä-bala – His great prowess can thwart or<br />
