Chapter XVI
The Bladder of the Vaisvanara Self
Then he said to Budila the son of Asvatarasva: "O
Vaiyaghrapadya, whom do you meditate on as the Self?"
"Water only, venerable King," he replied. "The Self you
meditate on," said the king, "is the Vaisvanara Self
called Rayi (wealth). Therefore you are wealthy and
flourishing and you eat food and see what is pleasing.
Whoever thus meditates on the Vaisvanara Self eats
food, sees what is pleasing and has in his family the
glory of Brahman. That, however, is only the bladder of
the Self. Surely your bladder would have burst if you
had not come to me."
