SRUs <strong>and</strong> agencies. A search action plan should be developed by the SMC,<br />

or by the OSC if the SMC does not do so. The search action plan should<br />

arrive at parent agencies providing SRUs 6 hours prior to their required<br />

departure time, or earlier for SRU crews that may need to begin planning<br />

before resting for a "first light" search. If debriefing reveals<br />

factors not previously considered, the SMC can modify the original plan.<br />

B. The search action plan may be abbreviated depending on mission<br />

size, but usually contains the following:<br />

1. Situation<br />

a. Brief description of incident, position, <strong>and</strong> time.<br />

b. Number of persons on board (POB).<br />

c. Weather forecast <strong>and</strong> period for forecast.<br />

d. SRUs on scene.<br />

e. Primary/secondary search targets, including amount <strong>and</strong><br />

type of survival equipment.<br />

2. <strong>Search</strong> Area, by columns: Area, Size, Corner Points, Other.<br />

3. Execution, by columns: Area, SRU, Parent Agency, Pattern,<br />

Creep Direction, Commence <strong>Search</strong> Point (CSP), <strong>and</strong> Altitude.<br />

4. Coordination<br />

a. SMC designated<br />

b. OSC designated<br />

5. Communications<br />

c. On scene time for units<br />

d. Track spacing/coverage factor desired<br />

e. OSC instructions (include DMB instructions)<br />

f. Air space reservations<br />

g. Aircraft safety comments<br />

h. SRU CHOP instructions<br />

i. Parent agency relief instructions<br />

j. Authorization for non-SAR aircraft in the area<br />

a. Control channels, primary <strong>and</strong> secondary
