3. Action Taken - A report of all action taken since the last<br />

report, including results of such action. When an<br />

unsuccessful search has been conducted, the report includes<br />

the areas searched, a measure of effort such as sorties flown<br />

or hours searched, <strong>and</strong> the coverage factor or probability of<br />

detection (POD).<br />

4. Future Plans - A description of actions planned for future<br />

execution, including any recommendations <strong>and</strong>, if necessary, a<br />

request for additional assistance.<br />

5. Case Status - Used on final SITREP only either CASE CLOSED, or<br />

for SC use only, ACTIVE SEARCH S<strong>US</strong>PENDED PENDING FURTHER<br />

DEVELOPMENTS.<br />

C. Initial SITREPs are released by the SMC as soon as possible<br />

after the first information is received. Subsequent SITREPs are<br />

released when important new developments occur, <strong>and</strong> at least once daily<br />

by a maritime SMC. For inl<strong>and</strong> SAR cases, AFRCC normally transmits<br />

information via teletype in a Mission Summary, issued at the end of each<br />

day. For all missions involving <strong>Navy</strong> or Marine Corps units in distress,<br />

the Naval Safety Center, NAS Norfolk, VA should be an information<br />

addressee on all SITREPs originated by the SMC.<br />

D. For missions where pollution or threat of pollution exists as a<br />

result of a casualty, the appropriate agency tasked with environmental<br />

protection should be an information addressee on all SITREPs.<br />

342 <strong>Search</strong> Action Plan<br />

A. The search action plan is a message adaptation of the st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

operation organization plan, <strong>and</strong> is used to normally pass actions<br />

required of participating<br />
