When the SMC's operation center <strong>and</strong> the SRU staging base are not<br />

co-located, this information may be transmitted via the best means<br />

available. The information contained in the SRU briefing folder should<br />

supplement the information transmitted in the SMC's SAR action plan.<br />

1. Most recent search action plan message.<br />

2. Prepared search area chart.<br />

3. <strong>Search</strong> briefing checklists.<br />

4. SRU briefing <strong>and</strong> debriefing forms.<br />

5. Arriving SRU information required by OSC.<br />

6. OSC initial SRU briefing.<br />

7. OSC procedures.<br />

8. OSC search status checklist.<br />

9. Sighting reports.<br />

10. Procedures for diverting merchant vessels.<br />

11. Helicopter hoist instructions for vessels.<br />

12. Most recent AMVER SURPIC.<br />

13. Aircraft separation procedures.<br />

14. Aircraft "operations normal" reporting procedures.<br />

15. Shipboard lookout <strong>and</strong> aircraft scanner instructions.<br />

16. Prepared aircraft clearance form.<br />

17. Survivor sighting procedures.<br />

18. Communications/IFF plan.<br />

1140 SAR CHARTS AND OVERLAYS<br />

Charts, overlays, <strong>and</strong> graphical summaries are aids in planning,<br />

execution, <strong>and</strong> evaluation. Separate SAR mission charts should be kept<br />

for each case.<br />

A. SAR charts should have detailed information about the case,<br />

including the projected trackline of a missing craft, last known<br />

position, estimated position at time of last radio contact, search areas<br />

for the first search effort, mission number <strong>and</strong> title, type of search
