3. Parallel Track Multiunit Return (PMR) is used when<br />

simultaneous sweep of an area to maximum radius is desired.<br />

It provides concentrated coverage of large areas in a minimum<br />

time period, <strong>and</strong> allows the use of aircraft with different<br />

speeds in a parallel search pattern. See Figure 5-28.<br />

4. Parallel Track Multiunit Non-Return (PMN) is similar to the<br />

PMR, except that SRUs continue to a destination other than the<br />

departure point. It is normally used when en route vessels<br />

are available <strong>and</strong> will alter their tracks to provide<br />
