DETAILED STEPS
Command Purpose
Step 1 enable
Enables privileged EXEC mode.
Example:
Router> enable
Step 2 copy tftp slotslot-number:image
or
copy tftp diskdisk-number:image
Example:
Router# copy tftp slot0:image1
Step 3 For Cisco 7500 series routers:
copy tftp slaveslotslot-number:image
or
copy tftp slavediskdisk-number:image
For other Cisco devices:
copy tftp stby-slotslot-number:image
or
copy tftp stby-diskdisk-number:image
Example:
Router# copy tftp slaveslot0:image1
or
Router# copy tftp slavedisk0:image1
or
Router# copy tftp stby-slot0:image1
or
Router# copy tftp stby-disk0:image1
Step 4 configure terminal
Example:
Router# configure terminal
• Enter your password if prompted.

Uses TFTP to copy a Cisco IOS image onto the Flash device of
the active RP.
Uses TFTP to copy a Cisco IOS image onto the Flash device of
the standby RP.
Enters global configuration mode.
