his appealing cry to <strong>the</strong>m, seeing that he could not<br />

have known that <strong>the</strong> miracle had been wrought on<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir behalf.<br />

xvi. 32. <strong>The</strong> abrupt appearance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> jailor''s<br />

family is unexplained.<br />

xvi. 33. It seems strange that <strong>the</strong> baptism should<br />

have taken place at once in <strong>the</strong> prison.<br />

xvi. 35. No motive is given for <strong>the</strong> action <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

release, though no hint is given that <strong>the</strong>y were influ-<br />

enced by anything that had happened during <strong>the</strong><br />

night. <strong>The</strong> whole passage, verses 24—34 (inclusive),<br />

looks like an interpolation.<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves go in to <strong>the</strong> prisoners but sent a message<br />

by <strong>the</strong> jailor.<br />

tioned, though it is not until verse 7 that we learn<br />

that Jason had received <strong>the</strong> missionaries into his house.<br />
