Sieben L<strong>in</strong>den<br />
Construction: Environmentally sound and future-oriented build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
methods, maximum potential for the <strong>in</strong>habitants to self-build,' organic<br />
architecture adapted to the landscape, the creation <strong>of</strong> mean<strong>in</strong>gful spaces<br />
for liv<strong>in</strong>g experiences, allowance for various life-style needs (families,<br />
s<strong>in</strong>gles, communes or shared hous<strong>in</strong>g, etc.).<br />
Social organisation: L<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g daily life and work, the <strong>in</strong>tegration <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>in</strong>dividual and the community, self-responsibility <strong>in</strong> various life doma<strong>in</strong>s,<br />
direct communication and decision structures, collective liv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
spaces for people <strong>of</strong> all age-groups and socio-economic backgrounds.<br />
<strong>Eco</strong>nomy: Decentralised economy with maximised self-sufficiency and<br />
directlocal exchange via the development <strong>of</strong> agriculture, crafts, small<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>esses and cultural, social and medical services.<br />
Local Region: Co-operation with surround<strong>in</strong>g <strong>villages</strong> through a longterm<br />
village and regional development plan which <strong>in</strong>cludes neighbourhood<br />
help, exchange <strong>of</strong> technical services as well as local trade, environmental<br />
protection and ecologically sound tourism.<br />
The OkodorfCo-operative ownes the Project Centre, an additional house<br />
and the settlement property Sieben L<strong>in</strong>den, near Poppau. Currently,<br />
the co-operative has 50 partner members (December, 1997) who are<br />
participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the development <strong>of</strong> the project with their own capital<br />
and work. Seven <strong>of</strong> them form the new settlement group that is located<br />
at the Poppau site.<br />
In 1991 the Friends <strong>of</strong> the Okodorf (non-pr<strong>of</strong>it association) established<br />
themselves self as a group <strong>of</strong> supporters for the promotion <strong>of</strong> eco-village.<br />
Currently the group has 250 members. The bi-monthly newspaper and<br />
regular meet<strong>in</strong>gs dissem<strong>in</strong>ate <strong>in</strong>formation about the current state <strong>of</strong> the<br />
project. The organisation carries out public relations activities, network<strong>in</strong>g<br />
with similar projects and <strong>of</strong>fers a diverse, practical sem<strong>in</strong>ar program<br />
<strong>in</strong> co-operation with various experts and educational organisations.<br />
The Project Centre is located on a 4,3 hectare farm <strong>in</strong> GroB Chliden. It<br />
has been the first po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>of</strong> crystallisation for all the various associated<br />
