dition<strong>in</strong>g - and it has not been used <strong>in</strong> w<strong>in</strong>ter time for quite a long time.<br />
For heat<strong>in</strong>g the houses, we use woodfuel, which could be called local<br />
sun energy, that we gather free or buy from local farmers. There is a<br />
massive stove <strong>in</strong> every room, which means that there is no waste <strong>of</strong><br />
energy.<br />
We have small gardens for vegetables and herbs, not fields. The forest<br />
gives us lots <strong>of</strong> herbs, mushrooms, berries etc., and the lake gives us<br />
fish. We endeavour to buy or exchange the ma<strong>in</strong> part <strong>of</strong> our food from<br />
local farmers, many <strong>of</strong> them produc<strong>in</strong>g biological products.<br />
Katajamaki has actively been connected <strong>in</strong> the F<strong>in</strong>nish <strong>Eco</strong>- Society<br />
Project hav<strong>in</strong>g connections to about 45 different k<strong>in</strong>ds <strong>of</strong> communities<br />
ma<strong>in</strong>ly <strong>in</strong> the countryside <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>land. We have also good connections<br />
to the Friends <strong>of</strong> the Earth <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>land.<br />
