If we analyze the anode and grid-current values shown, we can<br />

predict that they will cause a d-c ammeter to show a particular<br />

reading. This is called the d-c component of the current. Also,<br />

we can predict that if the anode current flows through a properlyloaded<br />

resonant r-f circuit, a certain amount of radio-frequency<br />

power will be delivered to that circuit. If the circuit is tuned to the<br />

fundamental frequency (same frequency as the r-f grid voltage),<br />

the power delivered will be due to the fundamental, or principal,<br />

radio-frequency component of anode current. If the circuit is tuned<br />

to a harmonic of the grid-voltage frequency, e.g., two or three<br />

times the frequency, the power delivered will be due to a harmonic<br />

component of the anode current.<br />
