mimoOn
GmbH
Industrial Experience
The mimoOn GmbH was found in 2006 as a start-up company with core business in
software IP for the cellular 3gpp communication standard UMTS/Long Term Evolution
(LTE) on software-defined-radio (SDR) architectures (multi-DSP platforms). [http://
www.mimoOn.de].
Responsibilities During my time at mimoOn, I actively helped the company develop from initially 6 employees
when I joined in 03/07 to more than 40 software developers and engineers in 03/09. As head
of the Signal Processing Section, I was responsible for the development of the physical layer
and MAC layer algorithms for MIMO-OFDM systems (LTE) optimized for implementation
on parallel hardware architectures and vector processors, suitable for real-time operation on
multi-core/multi-DSP platforms. During the period of 06/07-03/2008, I lead the software
development (physical-layer, baseband) of the world-wide first demonstrator of a LTE
mobile terminal in software defined radio (SB3011 and SB3500 DSP architectures from
Sandbridge). I acted as a consultant for the design of LTE specific platform- and chiparchitectures
for several smaller DSP manufacturers. I regularly participated in the 3gpp
standardization (Release 8, LTE), and I was responsible for the acquisition of publicly
funded research and cooperation projects with successful proposals in ZIM BMWI and
High-Tech NRW. I gave company and product presentations on expositions and at company
visits, and gave internal and external trainings on LTE- and LTE-Advanced.
FIS/Schaeffler-
Group
The FAG Industrial Services is an enterprise of the Schaeffler-Group. [http://www.
fis-services.de] that is active in the field of maintenance and condition monitoring of
industrial machineries with strong focus of rotating parts and roller bearings.
Responsibilities As a Research Engineer for digital signal processing at FIS in the period 07/05-02/07,
I developed an automatic fault detection and condition monitoring system for rotating
machines, designed new methods for robust vibration analysis, and derived new models
for the mathematical description of recorded vibration signals. I further developed a data
acquisition system for ultra-sound sensors, planned and executed measurement campaigns
on testbeds and in industrial plants, gave internal trainings in digital signal processing
(DSP), spectral analysis, estimation theory and Matlab programming, and supervised
several internships, Diploma and Master theses.
