Yamane said few questions have been raised
about health issues.
“The simple answer is no, there are no health
issues associated with smart meter installation,
but like any new technology, smart grid
technology is triggering concerns among a small
segment of consumers,” Yamane said. “KIUC is
vigorously committed to the safety of its
members, and will make it a priority to address
any concerns in the months to come.”
Moriguchi concluded the presentation with an
overview of KIUC’s new social media plan.
“KIUC is making every effort to engage
members in a more interactive, informal dialogue
through our social media plan,” Moriguchi
explained. “Facebook, Twitter and a website
dedicated to our renewable efforts are also
providing us the opportunity to promote
efficiency, events, cover safety issues, and
communicate more affectively about outages and
emergencies.”
Ultimately, Moriguchi said she hoped the new
plan would enhance current traditional methods
of communications, and increase awareness of
programs and services, engage members to
improve relationships, and increase member
satisfaction through communicating more
efficiently. (For information on how to join our
social media activities, see the story on page 17.)
KIUC wants to thank the few members who
attended one or more of our meetings. While the
turnouts were small, KIUC will continue offering
opportunities to participate in meetings in the
future.
