The Qualifying Member Appliance Replacement
Program is designed to help qualifying lowincome
seniors (age 60+) reduce their residential
electricity use by replacing older, lessefficient
refrigerators and defective electric water heaters
with new, more efficient ones at no cost to the
member. This program is offered in partnership
with the County of Kaua‘i. For program
information and to determine eligibility, interested
customers must call the County of Kaua‘i Offices of
Community Assistance, Agency on Elderly Affairs
at 241.4487.
The Appliance Meter Service Program gives
members a way to meter and record the amount
of electricity consumed by most common electric
appliances. This helps identify high consumption
appliances that can be targeted for replacement.
Information also can be used to modify the use of
various appliances and help reduce consumption.
Meters may be borrowed for up to seven days,
and are available through member service
representatives at the main office.
Above, KIUC employee and board volunteers, Brad Rockwell, Richard Vetter, Ira Fernandez, Carol Bain and Claurino Bueno shared information with members at
the Kaua‘i Farm Bureau Fair. Right, Joe Fontanilla hands Heidi Tokuda and Mary Silva giveaway items at the fair.
